If you look at stats, awards, team accomplishments.

Danny Wuerffel is by far the greatest SEC QB of all time.

4 SEC Championships
1 national Championship, played in 2 NC games
Heisman winner
2 time all American
2 time Davey O'Brien winner
2 time SEC player of the year
Maxwell award winner
Unitas Award winner
Threw for over 10,000 yard and 114 TDs in career
45-6-1 in 4 years at UF
Undefeated against Peyton Manning and the Vo12s.
Undefeated against Alabama
Undefeated against LSU
Undefeated against UG
Undefeated against entire SEC East for 4 years.
Only 2 SEC losses in 4 seasons.

Honestly...as an LSU and Peyton fan...it's hard to argue with this. And he was the first to pop up in my head. Y'all were killers back then.

How has ole Spurrier not had a mention yet? Heisman and the legendary kick? Not the answer but better than a lot of guys mentioned.

Wuerffel was amazing and is definitely in the discussion, and he seems like a really good person.

Didn't he split time with another QB his first two seasons? Not that that diminishes his other accomplishments, but a lot of what you listed were team accomplishments, so if he was splitting time during those first two seasons, he gets a little less credit.

Also, kudos to the Aubies, I think they were the only team to beat him (though I think it was during those first two seasons when he was splitting time).

Edit: I looked it up, he split time with Terry Dean in 1993 and 1994, though it was about 60-40 in favor of Wuerrfel. And Auburn was the only SEC team to defeat Florida during Wuerrfel's career, in both 93 and 94 (Florida defeated Auburn in 95 and 96).

Then again Tebow is the highest rated passer all-time, SEC leader in rushing TD's and total TD's, #2 all-time in total offense (Wuerffel #9) while also being a 2X All-American, 3 Time All-SEC, Heissman winner and 2 NCs.

Had Eric zeier not played on such shitehole georgia teams he would be in group of best conversation.

One of the greatest but overlooked qbs in SEC history.

My 60 year old dad gave me his ranking:

1. Archie
2. Wuerffel
3. Manziel
4. Tebow
5. Sullivan

He has Newton, Peyton, Stabler, Namath, Spurrier, Bert Jones, and AJ just outside. I guess the debate is over.
