David Fair - Highly recruited RB out of Starkville. Ran for 128 or so against UT in his first SEC game as a true freshman. Blew his knee out the next game. Never recovered.

Basically every recruit we have signed out of South Panola except Isaiah Gross.

I'm surprised Alabama fans aren't selecting Freddie Milons. He appeared to be "the next star" his first year and then just kinda....went away.

I still remember the run he had against Florida in the SEC Championship game and the punt return he had against Michigan in the Orange Bowl.

I'd put up Prothro over Millons. Prothro had a chance to shine for a bit, but that injury against Florida... man.

Cedric Cobbs.

He was a physical force of nature who had a great freshman season and was fixin' to beast on the SEC until he tore up his knee his sophomore season and was never the same.

Nick Brassell, Pat Patterson, anyone from South Panola without the last name Gross. Eddie Strong the other exception.

Mark that down as the 1 and ONLY time I felt bad for Alabama.

Derrick Henry broke most of those records two years ago. It's crazy to think he did all that back then.

That's unfortunate. Hopefully there is some stipulation like Henry played a couple extra games so I can still claim Hall as better.

Freddie Smith, LB from 1976-78.

Was a big-time RB at Athens (AL) High; but AU recruited him as an LB.

Made 15 unassisted tackles in his first game as a true freshman.

IIRC, he was SEC Defensive Player of the Year as a Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior.

Then wrecked his knee in practice and never played again.

Yeah, he would be a good choice.

Mohammad Fotchelaminga, a 4'3" 687 pound WR with 98.3 speed in the 40 and a 6 pound bench from Krotz Springs.

For a time we the Cobb-Webb and it was glorious. I wish we'd had the ability to repair knees back then like we do today. Webb would've set so many records it would've been unreal.
