Saban

Next 4 are about equal but if a gun to my head I'd rank as follows:
Freeze
McElwain
Sumlin
Bert

It's Auburn versus Arkansas recruiting. Duh. Alabama talent is consistently underrated and you guys have no problem hitting Georgia and Florida for top talent. If you really believe that it's just as easy to recruit blue chips to Arkansas as it is to Auburn then I will just smh and check myself out of this debate.

Because you don't rank coaches by one vs. one matchups. Else Saban would be worse than some ULM coach from 2006 or whenever.

You have to look at the big picture. How is the program progressing/regressing. Are players getting drafted. Potential (recruiting stars) vs. Actual production (coaching).

Sumlin has to be #2. He's fully rebuilt a big12 roster full of seniors and slaw into a decent SEC squad. All with 8-5 being his floor.

It is only recently that we have been able to bring our presence back to the State of Texas. Leaving the SWC hurt in the recruiting department. It's not like we are Oklahoma, who plays conference games in that state all the time

Honestly it's pretty close between Bert and Sumlin to.. nah that's 100% homerism it's sumlin. he's kicked our arse 4 times in a row.

I'm impressed by how he adapts to what works and what does not.

Yeah, that's one of the major advantages of being a flagship university, with no real in-state rival to hold us back.
Arkansas is the flagship unversity with no real in state rival but it's basically above the mason-dixon line and Arkansas has the smallest population of any state in the SEC and the smallest number of African Americans by far in the SEC and the ones that do live live on the polar opposite side of the state and are closer to LSU then they are to Arkansas.

Like serious, Sosa Agim was closer to Baylor then he was to Fayetville being from Hpoe. Dallas from Hope is a 3 hour drive. It's a 2 hour drive to get from hope to little rock let alone fayetvill which is another 2 hours 5 mins on the dot

I don't think nearly enough weighting is given to the impact of Coordinator and Position Coach changes.

A good Coach can take a group of average recruits and turn them into an above average unit.

Sumlin addressed several significant problems on his staff last offseason and is getting the payoff now.

The answer imo is Sumlin

Until he proves he can recruit at a higher level, Bert can't be the number 2 choice

Regardless of what the Ags believe, they are historically right on par with Arkansas, yet Sumlin has beaten Bert 4 times in a row, and the talent gap appears to be widening. The recruiting excuse is pretty lame. Arkansas has some recruiting disadvantages but I'm damned tired of that being used as an excuse for the wide talent gap we have

I swear, so many hog fans are thrilled with a 8 or 9 win seasons and a bowl game. I'm old enough to remember when we were a real player on college fb. My goodness have expectations gone down since we've joined the SEC.

I'm surrounded by hog fans on a daily basis and I don't know of one person who's thrilled with that, not one. I hear criticism daily. Maybe you need to stop inhaling all the free samples your pharma reps give you.
