I almost decided not to include Bert and just leave him out along with Mason and Stoops, but I figured the insecure piggies would take that as a threat.

Glad I chose to include his stats. Gives us all something to laugh at now.

It is really sad because you could be a decent poster if you didn't get so salty all the time

Improvement is relative. Just because you don't finish in top 25 doesn't mean you are a bad coach. I think we can all agree a good coach is one who gets his team to win more games than the year before.

Don't know how Bert can be above Sumlin considering he is 0-4 against Sumlin and hasn't finished in the Top 25.

Sumlin is a grand canyon step down from Saban but he has some legit accomplishments. He's got a solid record against Top 25 teams. He has at least beaten Bama once. He hasn't finished worse than 8-5 and has won 4/5 Bowl games and has lost only one OOC game in 5 years. He's sucked against LSU and he hasn't won the West but only Malzahn can say that at this point and the '13 season still seems more of a fluke.

Mc has done well at UF but playing in the East helps a ton, he's been the tallest midget there. No other East coach has much to crow about.

Freeze has an argument. Mullen is a good coach but doesn't have much to show for it.

With no Miles or Richt the coaches not named Saban haven't truly settled though.

I'll go with this. Sumlin is a good choice. Although I give Mullen credit for at least having State competitive.

I'm sure you did. It was an embarrassing loss. It showed us Dawgs how it must feel everyday to be an Arkansas fan.

If Bert had the resources and recruiting base at Auburn he would have a top 10 program. Hell he has a pretty good one now at one of the hardest schools to recruit to in the south. He is much better than Gus.

Yeah, that's one of the major advantages of being a flagship university, with no real in-state rival to hold us back.

You're right, we should be dominating the SEC, with no legitimate competition for all our local recruits. What the hell were we thinking?

I can agree with this, and the one I'd consider current second best (Mullen) seems to be mailing it in this season. I know Dak was a huge part of that team, but they're just playing uninspired this season like Mullen is planning on heading out.

Mullen and Mississippi State have mastered playing the easiest schedule possible. When you look at who he's actually beaten, his record becomes quite bad.

Of Mullen's 57 wins, 38 came against FCS opponents or FBS teams that finished .500 or worse.

That gives him just 19 wins in nearly 8 full seasons against FBS opponents that finished above .500. Of those 19, seven were to mid-major types (Southern Miss, La Tech, Bowling Green, MTSU, etc.). So if you take that out, Mullen has 12 single wins against power programs that finished with a winning record. Here are those wins:

2009 Kentucky (7-6)
2011 Michigan (7-6)
2014 Arkansas (7-6)
2015 Auburn (7-6)
2015 NC State (7-6)
2010 Florida (8-5)
2013 Ole Miss (8-5)
2014 LSU (8-5)
2014 Texas A&M (8-5)
2014 Auburn (8-5)
2015 Arkansas (8-5)
2009 Ole Miss (9-4)

Mullen has just one single win over a Power program that finished with 9 wins... and that was back in 2009 when Houston Nutt was their head coach!

Mullen is 2-31 against teams that finished in the AP Top 25. He has fooled the masses into thinking he's a great coach.

recruiting base at Auburn

What recruiting base? Sharing a small state with the best recruiter in the country? Auburn relies heavily on GA & FL. Why can't Arkansas do the same.
And what other resources give Auburn such an advantage?

Didn't say Bert is a bad coach. Just trying to understand how he can be rated above another coach that has beaten him the only 4 times they have played and has accomplished more. If you think Bert is better than Sumlin though I'd be interested in hearing how, about the only thing he has on Sumlin is he has beaten LSU.

I wouldn't make that argument but mainly because of recruiting, which is a huge part of being a head coach in CFB.

I didn't mean those states specifically. But you are a lot closer to Texas for one.
I just don't get all the talk about disadvantages...and I'm trying to pay Arkansas a compliment.

Arkansas is by far the worst state in terms of talent when looking at the other SEC states. That doesn't help to start with. We have to fight off Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, LSU and other national brands for Texas kids. I understand Auburn has to deal with the same thing in Georgia and Florida but Auburn is a little closer relative to what Arkansas has to deal with in regards to Texas. People also forget that Arkansas is in the upper corner of the state.
