Those "radical swings" have occurred twice. In the 1950s and early 2000s. You've managed to try and argue that Alabama, a program with nearly 100 more all-time wins, far more 10 win seasons, bowl appearances, conference titles, and national titles is "less consistent". Impressive troll.
I find it entertaining so many of you take offense to his line graph.

The biggest "swing" is 92-93-94, because of the 93 forfeits, which is of course lol.
Besides, there's a difference between "consistent" and "consistently good"
As I said earlier, a team could go 4-8 every single year and not a single one of their fans would go around bragging about their consistency.

Statistics are just that. I'm more amused by the notion that said poster thinks Alabama is inconsistent compared to LSU due to "overwhelming history".

Sorry that you get rustled by numbers.
Better watch out.

Whew. Glad we cleared that up.

I really don't see Bama or LSU having a losing season within the next twenty years even when Miles and Saban are gone unless they hire some idiot like a Rich Rod or Randy Edsell who tries to come in and change an entire culture.

If history has taught us anything is that college football is very much a coaches game. The head coach really does make all the difference.
You're one great hire away from being great and one bad hire away from sucking.
There's also the NCAA hammer floating out there, but they've become pretty toothless since the USC thing so that seems to be a non issue.
Alabama and LSU have the facilities and recruiting base that even a mediocre coach should be able to manage winning seasons, I mean hell you can go 3-5 in the SEC and still have a winning season.
But if your head coach is garbage no amount of facilities or tradition will save you from them finding ways to lose.
The answer is therefore simple, the team that will have a losing season first is the team that hires a shite coach first.

If you told me that neither LSU or Alabama would have a losing season in the next 20 years I'd be inclined to believe you.
Really no reason either should.
True but the OP made a good point....who would have guessed UF having a losing season. Same thing with AU. UT's current slide. UGA was a surprise in 2010.
If/when it happens, there won't be expectation. It will be a "is this real life?" surprise.
imo

barring some disaster at both schools neither Saban or Miles will have a losing season. Really depends on who both schools hire to replace their current coaches.
I think this is right.
