Texas and OU

You can't have one without the other or you shouldn't. There is plenty more TV to be had in Texas and adding in Oklahoma (a national brand as well) makes sense to me. I'd move the two Alabama teams to the east. Then I'd shift Mizzou back to the west.

SEC West

Arkansas
LSU
Mizzou
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M

SEC East

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbuilt

This all works geographically as well.

Ohio State?

Borders Kentucky, is a good recruiting area, and has a few large TV markets.

Texas would break up the SEC within two years. They have already destroyed two conferences, why would you wish this upon yourself?

- new TV markets, should bring something new to the table
- since we are the SOUTHeastern conference, should be a geographical fit, preferably contiguous to current footprint
- doesn't cannibalize existing team strengths
- solid academic profile
- comprehensive sports programs with good history
- no schools smaller than current members, public schools preferred, "regional" not really an option

Virginia/Virginia Tech and UNC/NC State fit all those criteria

Might work:

North Carolina -OR- NC State

Yes

Virginia -OR- Virginia Tech

Yes

No, just left for the Big Ten

quote:

Texas - OR - Baylor -OR- Houston - OR- TCU

No to all four for different reasons.

Texas cannot play by rules they don't set. That's been proven multiple times across multiple conferences. They would NEVER subordinate themselves to Birmingham. Not to mention the leash ESPN has them on.

Baylor and TCU are small private schools.

Houston is a commuter school at best and isn't even in the top 200 of USNWR

Louisville is everything the SEC isn't (at least the romantic version of the SEC).

-Located in the ghetto
-Commuter school to the nth degree
-Probably half the students are "non traditional" students
-The other half are UK fans who went there for the convenience
-Hilariously low entrance requirements (may be a positive for State and OM fans)
-Ghetto fan base
-TINY fan base. Seriously, it's extremely small but they turn out for games because they all live within 20 minutes of the venues
-They name their facilities after fast food restaurants
-For those who don't know the history of their football program, it's really, really bad. It was almost cut in the 80's. It's come a long way, but it wasn't that long ago they were playing in the outfield of a run down minor league baseball field. When you rise that quickly, you fall pretty quick, too
-SLEAZY. Name a sleazier athletic department. You can't.
-Once Jurich leaves, they will suck at everything again.

They have been to multiple BCS bowls under multiple coaches, and pull in Big 5 athletic revenue numbers without a Big 5 TV contract.

I think you underrate Louisville, even if I don't want them in the SEC because of the pact...

They only got to said BCS games because of their conference at the time.

Simply adding markets does not mean shite if nobody in the market watches the team in question.Half of the names being tossed around can't put 45,000 in the stands, what makes anyone think people will pay to watch them on TV

You just described Mississippi State.

UNC & Kansas, would bring in the K.C. market and give Mizzou a rival, UNC would bring in the state of N.C. and a UK, UNC, KU, Florida basketball conference would be the SHYZZZZITS it college basketball, the 3 top programs in history with a fast riser.

All teams don't have to be Oklahoma in football, we have a tough football conference already.

I know this is a fantasy thread but these 2 aren't going anywhere w/out Baylor and Okie Lite in tow.

The former big 12 south schools will probably end up in a very large PAC conference eastern division in 5 years or so.

there actually isn't. adding any other school from the state of texas, regardless of who you add, would provide no extra money for the conference

As much as hate to say it. With the GOR, I think the only way we get into VA and NC is by adding ECU and ODU(please no).

it would provide higher ratings and more negotiating room for the conference when it comes to TV rights.

Where the horns are concerned, TV rights = LHN.
There are no rights beyond that.

we already carry all of the major cities in texas. sure it would be higher, but we already are the most watched team in most of the major cities in texas

the only university in texas that would add to this is texas and I would not want to negotiate tv rights with them

1. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State
2. move Alabama and Auburn to East
3. traditional rivalries all in tact because they're all in the same division
4. Balance
5. Everyone's happy
