Even though I wouldn't mind playing teams like Clemson, UT and OU more often, we're already TOO DAMN BIG as it is! It's bad enough we get to play other members of the conference once every 10 years or whatever. Adding more people, no matter how good they are, will only make the problem worse
. I tend to agree w/ this

I think if the SEC or any other conference did go up to 16 teams, it would be because the power conferences had successfully colluded to take all decision making away from the NCAA.

The key to a 16 team conference would be 10 conference games. You could also drop the East/West and go with four 4 team divisions- 3 division opponents and another 3 'rivalry' opponents, 1 from each other division, and then rotate through the non rivalry non division opponents. would mean playing every team at least every 3 years.

10 conference games is too many

4 divisions and 1 rivalry game would be fine

10 games would force UGA to veto any addition other than GA Tech or we would lose almost all flexibility in scheduling

Everyone should be able to schedule 1 patsy.

We have GA Tech

KY has Louisville

SC has Clemson

UF has FSU

You phaggots SHOULD get TX and Mizzou SHOULD get Kansas

IF that happened, a 10 game conference schedule would mean NEVER getting to play a big name team from the other conferences OR giving up a competitive advantage.

Thae idea would be voted down, 9 games is as much as you can ever hope for.

3 divisional opponent, MAYBE 1 permanent rival and rotate the rest.

Like you said - too bad, so sad.

you have 4 or 5 teams that will veto a 10 game schedule even if we go to 16 teams.

SEC has more power determining B12 constituency than B12 does.

What do you mean? I don't see anyone in the Big 12 that the SEC would take...

Not Florida State, Clemson, or Louisville. It's dumb to even suggest these. Not Texas because it's a drama queen needing too much special attention. Go for Virginia (or Va Tech) and North Carolina (or NC State). The lesser schools are arguably better to add as you not only elevate their status, by virtue of them being in the SEC, but by doing so also hurt their big brothers with their increased market share. Kind of like if Texas wanted to make mischief against LSU by adding ULL, LaTech, or Tulane to the Big-12. After all, that conference only exists at their pleasure.

Just a hypothetical exercise. I really don't have a B12 motive with this thread. It just seems like there are 3 conferences that cannot be poached from - B10, SEC, and PAC12.

Everyone seems to still be pro geographic/cultural integrity with their mentions, but I am surprised to see how many people are choosing based on the TV concern of only bringing in schools that add a state to the viewership.

The Duke/UNC mentions are also interesting. They've both been bowling lately in football but they will always be basketball schools. So far all of the conference realignment has been footbal driven, so people mentioning these teams was a surprise, and also implies that as fans, you guys are looking at the tobacco road rivalry and thinking, "I'd like that toy in my box." I find it all very interesting, that's why the thread.

Both have built in SEC rivalries and both are located in SEC recruiting territories.
