On a scale of 1-10, this is a 2.

Knew a guy with an AlaBama degree (not Clanga) who is a big State fan.

Lunacy...

I grew up a Rebel fan; but, when I became a man, I put away childish things.

I went to LSU and all I got was this night shift job at Raising Cane's. Hoping a plant operator will give me a shot.

That would be UL-L not LSU.

Went to AU for architecture school. Once I switched to engineering, I went to UAH.

Well, it actually does. It it almost impossible to overcome a lifetime of being a fan of a team, only to find that your favorite school doesn't offer the degree you are striving for. It doesn't erase a childhood of memories sitting beside the radio with my Grandpa listening
to Bama games.

I didn't have much problem doing exactly that. Grew up going to UGA games with my dad and brother. Both are still big Georgia fans. Wanted to go to UGA up until summer between junior and senior year. Got in to both UGA and USC, and fell in love with Carolina after visiting. Went to USC for a host of reasons, not the least of which it was a better fit for what I wanted to do after graduation.

I don't care anything at all about UGA anymore - even though I remember most of the rosters from the Goff and Donnan years. My dad and I can't be in the same house when UGA plays USC anymore.

No, but then you're an adult and you realize it's a game between two college institutions and when you attend one of those institutions, it matters. Bama fans are weird. If you attend a school that's who you are. You are that school. You aren't a school you didn't attend. It just doesn't make sense.

AU undergrad, UA law, UF LLM. Even though I am grateful for the pieces of paper that hang on my wall from the second two, I have NO problem pulling against them.

I knew several guys at Auburn (1970s) that remained big Bama fans.

I have a sister-in-law that went to UA but is a big Auburn fan.

There used to be a lot more of this when there was a bigger variation in the academic offerings at the two schools.

I plan on attending Law School at either OM or LSU if I go somewhere in the SEC. So in due time.

Born and raised Gamecock fan, did my undergad at SC but now doing grad school at A&M.

It's pretty much ideal for me. 1,000 miles away and only played for the first time last year so there is no real animosity between fans (especially as the state ground thing fades away), they're in the SEC so I can see Gamecock teams regularly, the Aggie network is real and powerful (although I'm not in engineering or any hard science that A&M is known for)

grew up an LSU fan, mom is from Baton Rouge and grandparents have had season tickets to everything for like 50 years. Was very close with them. From Memphis, stayed in state for school, went to Tennessee. Enjoyed my time as a student, appreciated the education I received, but I am still an LSU fan for sports. I don't really care what anyone else thinks about it.

Same here. I grew up the biggest Ole Miss fan in the world. I had all kinds of Ole Miss shirts, hats, pennants, etc. Went to Ole Miss games all the time in the 80's when I was in high school. College, however, led me to MSU. I tried to pull for Ole Miss that first semester, then I did the I'll pull for both of them thing. None of this worked and I was full fledged Maroon by the end of that first semester and have been ever since. When I see people from high school that I lost touch with they can't believe I like State and not Ole Miss now. I don't understand how you can attend and get a degree from a school and not pull for them.

if you don't plan on staying in Louisiana, I would strongly recommend not going to LSU for law school. It will make studying for the Bar infinitely harder. If you want to be in Louisiana, I would also strongly recommend going to law school in the state of Louisiana for the same reason.

I followed my HS girlfriend to LSU. She left after 1 semester and eventually went to Texas. I followed her back to the state of Texas but decided to go to A&M.
