I went to UGA, pretty much because of HOPE. Alabama transplant that ended up in GA.

Does that make me a traitor? Sidewalk AU fan? Anybody else in a similar boat?

Clanga aka Stingray is an Alabama Alum State fan. That may be as odd as it gets.

I went to LSU and all I got was this night shift job at Raising Cane's. Hoping a plant operator will give me a shot.

Im friends with a former UGA WR that remains an auburn fan. Didn't attend because of the early 90's TV and bowl ban.

Georgia is a far better school than Auburn, so I'd say it makes you a rational decision maker.

Do people really think this? I guarantee you that two grads from either school with the same degree who are applying for the same job it would come down to connections or who interviewed better. It makes me laugh that people think any degree outside of Vanderbilt is worth more than another sec schools

Florida and A&M are pretty fricking respectable schools, so I would say a degree from either of those schools would hold more merit than say a degree from other SEC schools.

Those are the top of the "normal" schools. I would still feel fine with my resume against a UF or A&M grad.

my post was in jest, so I mostly agree with you. I recognize that there are some degrees (animal stuff mostly) that AU blows a UGA degree out of the water.

But I really do think that by and large, if 2 people with the same degree (in something normal, not specialized like a vet degree or something) from both schools apply somewhere, the UGA degree is looked at more favorably. You can disagree, but there ins't any ranking or database system out there that has AU ranked as a better overall university than Georgia. That's just a fact.

Do employers actually put any stock in that? I don't know, it's impossible to say. That varies based on the individual doing the hiring. But I do know that UGA is a better school than auburn academically, overall, and that isn't really up for debate.

Well that's just ignorant, if you truly believe that someone with a degree from Florida or Georgia going up against someone with a degree from mississippi state is looked at the same.

Florida and UGA are the only 2 SEC schools rated among the 20 best public universities. Texas A&M isn't as good as the aforementioned, but they're closer than any other SEC public.

I know buddy. Wasn't meaning to sound like I did there.

It is entirely about the interviewers personal experience. I interviewed out in Tucson where they have no preconceived notions about schools in the southeast. If you get an interview somewhere that moment forward your school means nothing to them (unless it's a prestigious school or they have a good or bad perception of your school). I just hate that there may be recent grads out there that may go into an interview thinking they are ahead of the pack by the school they went to. An undergrad degree is a check mark for most employers for recent grads. It means about nothing if you are 10 years into your career.
