totally agree. By and large it mostly just signifies that you're capable of doing tasks, following directions, and working towards a goal. Unless it's from the Ivy League or something, it basically just says "hey, this guy is able to do work and accomplish tasks that are assigned".

It means about nothing if you are 10 years into your career.
Agree even more there. Kinda like GPA..it's 100% meaningless once you're actually into a field and starting a career. At that point it's all about what you've accomplished and who you know.
The place I worked before my current job, our director was over a multi-million dollar operation that has won some national awards for being the best in its field and she didn't even have a college degree.

Understandable...undergrad shoudl leave a bigger impression on a person that grad school. I know if I did grad school at somewhere other than UGA I wouldn't automatically switch schools.
That brings up a quesiton though, as obviously don't have a masters. Do you feel any differently towards UGA than you did previously? Like, do you pull for them in every game except UK in all sports now, whereas you may have been indifferent prior to going?

Oh, definitely. I pull for UGA against everybody but UK. I was wild last bowl season when they were beating the crap out of Louisville. I wish the Dawgs played the Cards every season.

Im friends with a former UGA WR that remains an auburn fan. Didn't attend because of the early 90's TV and bowl ban.
Do tell names.

I'm entering my final year of my Masters at Ole Miss. Then looking at PHD opportunities. Already have some interest from FL, VA, CA, and GA schools.

You and your damn university rankings.
ARWU has A&M > UGA. Their methodology is far better than USNWR too
54 Vanderbilt
78 Florida
96 Texas A&M
151-200
UGA
201-300
LSU
Mizzou
South Carolina
401-500
Auburn
Arkansas

Depends on the industry/profession you're in. I got interviews in NYC and Chicago because of the Architecture design/build program that I went through at Auburn was regarded so highly. But Arch is a pretty insular profession, and a lot of architects are academics so they tend to keep up with that stuff. Same for medical and law I'd imagine.

LSU, then I saw the light.

I grew up in a family of Alabama graduates, but ended up at Auburn because of the field I was in. I am one of the the rare birds that love both schools.

My cousin got an engineering degree (undergrad) from auburn. Then went to VT for his masters. He then went on to some badass job in birmingham (his firm actually did the stadium additions to bryant denny) and now he's living in Idaho doing something else badass and making a shite ton of money.
Obviously there are certain degrees at each school that stand apart. Last I saw UGA's risk management/insurance school was ranked #2 in the country. I fully realilze that each situation is different. I was mainly just saying in my earlier posts that your degree saying "University of Georgia" on it is typically a better situation than having one from auburn. In general.

I went to UGA, pretty much because of HOPE. Alabama transplant that ended up in GA.
Does that make me a traitor? Sidewalk AU fan? Anybody else in a similar boat?
Is this normal for you Alabama residences?

eh, any ranking that has LSU ahead of Auburn and Missouri is quite questionable
