Especially since LSU proudly displays it along with their AP titles and crystal footballs.

How is A&M's 1939 title not legit in OP's eyes?

They went 11-0, were ranked #1 in the AP (and many other random selectors) won their bowl game, etc.

It's as legit as they come.

As best I cant ell the only SEC teams to never win a widely recognized national title...

Vanderbilt
South Carolina
Mississippi State

Kentucky*
Missouri*

(Kentucky kinda sorta claims a 1950 Sagarin and Missouri has their whole 1960 "undefeated" forfeit drama but neither of those really are acknowledged that much).

It's hard for teams to break through an win one if they haven't.

The last "1st time" national champs was Florida back in 1996 and the last new one before that was BYU in 1984.

Only two program since 96 had a chance to become first timers (Va Tech and Oregon) and both lost in the championship game (Oregon twice).

Iowa State, Illinois, UAB, Middle Tennessee, Georgia State, Northwestern & Stanford...forgive me if any of the above have already won some form of natty in football

Stanford has an ancient NC claim. Maybe even a couple of ancient NC claims. It seems like Illinois does as well, but maybe I'm thinking of basketball.

There are a handful of G5 programs that I think would do well if they received a P5 invitation. Boise State, Houston, NIU, UCF, and Cincinnati are my top G5 choices I'd like to see join a major conference and win big.

Stanford claims 1926 (they tied Alabama in the Rose) and 1940 (this one I'm not sure why).

Georgia is probably my pick considering the talent they have on board. Considering Florida is down this will be the best shot they have to win the big one. I'm going to say if UGA doesn't win in the next 4 years then they don't win one under Mark R.

I agree with VagueMessage, I'd love to see Bill Snyder get one.
