And Texas A&M certainly deserves to be on this list of teams. You can't just put random dates on your stadium and automagically that makes you a national champion.
It just doesn't work that way.

Any one of them except aTm or Missouri.

You also can't just make shite up in an Internet forum and automagically make it true.
A&M has 3 football national championships recognized by official sources, included one that came in the AP era, recognized by the AP.

Does the AP no longer count?

A&M won a national title even thought it was way back in the 1930's.
I wouldn't mind seeing A&M win a national title, but right now they are a long ways from being in that discussion. They need to completely rebuild from scratch and become more power based and learn how to stop the run.
Pass happy, soft teams do not win national titles.
As far as this topic goes, my answer is none.
Miss State? No thanks.
Ole Miss? No thanks.
You get the picture. I am happy with Florida, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU sharing the national titles for the SEC.

Wait a minute, didn't Ole Miss win a national title back in the 1950's or some time way back then?

Yes but many on this board will downplay the fact that we won one

Georgia hasn't won since Herschel was in the backfield. They've been far more good than bad since 1980 but have the absolute worst luck. Always losing a game they shouldn't or getting screwed by the polls. I would like to see them finally put it all together.

How about South Carolina.

In the sec? None. Recruiting is already a battle. Why would any fan want a coach going up against another coach with rings in recruiting?

Yep....and that is why SEC fans should be glad Urban is not at Florida. While the conference as a whole isn't as strong today as it was when Urban was at Florida (he is an elite coach..be real), he would make recruiting harder for your own team.

Actually it does work that way. Welcome to the SEC. Maybe you should try it and fight Ole Miss for that 1960 title.

South Carolina with Spurrier.

1960.

And it's legit too (the FWAA was the only major poll that always waited until after the bowls), not some retroactive nonsense.

I agree. I'm claiming 1960 and always have. That is absolutely how it worked prior to the BCS
