Arkasas's NC is about as legitimate as LSU's NC this year

We actually won our bowl game and went undefeated

Ohio St claims 1961. I think a couple other schools claim non-poll titles, too.

If you want to see non-legit titles just look at all the ones Michigan State claims... random polls and they didn't even win their bowl game.

We can argue about NC claims all day, but I can't really think of any other schools (besides Bama's bogus '41 claim) who claim an NC in the poll era (post 1936) who didn't when one of the two major polls (AP or UPI).

Actually, you'd be surprised... somebody's already mentioned the Ohio State one. Tennessee claims several past 1936 that aren't AP or UPI... Georgia claims one... SMU claims a few...

ETA: Kentucky (1) and Ole Miss (3).

Interesting, I learned something new today. For the sake of full disclosure, not sure if it was clear but I'm a Bama fan. I don't really have a problem with any of our claims, except for '41. For the pre-poll era there really is no right or wrong answer for any given year, so I'm ok with claiming all those Rose Bowl Champion teams which were on the top of one poll or another. But I always assumed there weren’t many claims in the poll era which weren’t UPI or AP. Like I said- interesting.

Ummmm Arkansas has no BCS Bowl Wins... WVU is 3-0 in BCS Bowls. WVU definitely has made it close with this last decade.

Funny that you should ask

2011 #23 West Virginia 70 – #14 Clemson 30
WVU's first-ever Orange Bowl appearance, as well as its third BCS appearance and victory. WVU also set multiple records against Clemson, including a NCAA record for points scored in a bowl game

Contrary to popular belief, the Southwest Conference was never a weak conference.

I don't care what you did. In both instances, Bama won the trophies that mattered. You can argue that it was unfair in both cases, but that doesn't change FACTS. That's the difference between us and ya'll, we let moral victories go and wait for a true championship while ya'll seem to cling to the ALMOST championship or SHOULD HAVE championship

In college football all championships are moral championships because they are voted by mythical man-made polls.
