January 1, 1987
Went to the Cotton Bowl, which was my first college football game ever (live or on TV). My dad, my older brother and I drove up from Beaumont area early that morning (a 6-hour drive) with NO TICKETS. Dad slept half the way while my brother driving(only 15 at the time, with no driver's license) Dad kept getting pissed because my brother would take a turn, and wake him up. He knew my brother would be speeding and started yelling at him. Grump arse.
We paid to park in an old lady's yard. When we pulled up she stuck her head in the driver window and said "y'all here for the game? $10 to park, plus tip." My dad says, "what's the tip for"? She said, "to make sure your car is here when you get back."
It was COLD.
We walked at least a mile to the stadium and longer looking for a scalper from whom to buy tickets.
I didn't know anything about college football, so I really had no stake in the game. I was just glad to be a tag-along.
We were WAY early. I was bored and freezing my arse off before the game. Then, I heard a noise outside the stadium. I could hear a drum cadence. People around us started "WHOOP"ing and standing up.
In marches the biggest band I had ever seen. They didn't march like other bands I had watched at high school games. They had a slow, menacing gate. It gave me chills all over. The guys in the front were wearing the knee-high boots with bugles at their sides. I imagined that this was what the Roman Army must have looked like when it came to conquer that arse. They came marching right up to the section next to us, and nearly filled it all the way up.
The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band halftime show put Ohio State's band to shame. If you haven't seen the FTAB, you should.
I don't remember much of the game on the field. I remember that Ohio State was wearing these red shoes, which was a first in college football, apparently. Something like what Oregon does with those crazy uniforms.
What I remember most, and what spurned my fanaticism was the coordinated yells, whoops, and sawing varsity's horns off. I was immediately hooked. Graduated from A&M 12 years later.

The earliest memory I have of football was watching Bama play, been a fan ever since. I was like 18 months or some shite.

well I was a fan for pretty much my entire life. However I never really understood what cheering for a team was like till I went to school at Arkansas. It's just different when you are a part of the real fanbase and understand the reason for traditions.

I've never seen this asked to be honest. I basically pull for all Mississippi schools when they play someone else because if we don't, no one else will. I remember being very captivated when I watched Ole Miss play LSU in 1997. LSU had just beaten the #1 ranked Gators and had an off week before they played us. I remember it also because it was the first college football game I ever watched from beginning to end. I remember cheering emphatically for the Rebs to win and I remember the hissing boos that reigned down after the clock expired.
Even when I was a Bulldog, I never rooted against Ole Miss unless they played Miss.St.
Then I became a pure bred Reb when I decided I wanted to be in Pharmacy school and visited for an applicant day and never turned back.
Rebels forever!

Was born and raised a UVA fan (being from Richmond, VA), but became a South Carolina fan when I went to take a tour of the campus and was surrounded by IRL 10's in my tour group

I go to College of Charleston, but grew up in New Orleans. We're all LSU fans in my family.

I was right across the street from c of c the past two days. Seems like a cool campus.

2002 - When I started undergrad at AU.
Was a Gamecocks fan until then. I still root for the Gamecocks when they're not playing Auburn. Interestingly, when Auburn does play them I, for some reason, always want us to absolutely crush them (like the SECCG :))

When did you become a fan of your school?
About midway of Mom's first trimester, I realized that I was all Bama.

When my mom walked across the stage in Tiger Stadium with me in her belly for her graduation. I was actually there for my dads graduation in the PMAC a year later.
