From Article
Saban isn’t an “Alabama guy.” We’re not saying he’s cold-hearted or without sentiment, at least entirely. But it’s important to recognize him for what he is, fundamentally: a mercenary. Him coming to Tuscaloosa was a business deal. Alabama wanted to be good at football. They came to Saban with a large amount of cash and a promise to get out of his way. Worried he might be tempted to leave again, Alabama offered him an extension and more cash. He’s at Alabama, because it is the best place for him to be, for now.

This has been true of many ambitious coaches. Saban might be singled out due to success...but this is more the norm now, I think.

That person believes that Texasris a better program than Alabama?!

Bama is college football. OU is more prevalent, historically, than the longhorns. The dude is typical orange stupid like all who wear orange

Saban would be a moron if he left Bama

Especially if Texas would double anything Bama offered in salary, benefits, etc. I certainly don't think Saban will leave Bama for Texas or any other team but it's not out of the realm of possibilities and he certainly wouldn't be a moron if he did.

Sometimes people just want new challenges and a change of scenery and that doesn't make them a moron for doing so. However, posting a comment like you did makes you a moron.

And honestly being Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa, where you are idolized and worshiped >>> being Nick Saban in Austin, where at least 50% of the residents DGAF about you.

You've never been in Austin when the Horns are winning. You've never seen so many brown people in burnt orange before!

Please explain how he can improve on winning the NC almost every year.

A lot easier road to the MNC and easier recruiting. I know that sounds like what he has at Bama but it would unfair what he could do at Texas. He would go the MNC every year until he retired.

I don't think anyone would say Texas is a better program than Bama right now but it has the potential to be the best in the nation. It has it all population, alumni, money and recruits.

What was Bama before Saban got there?

"Texas has won one BCS National Championship under head coach Mack Brown. Now close your eyes and imagine Nick Saban running this powerhouse.

It wouldn't even be fair for college sports. We are talking about a bigger monopoly than Wal-Mart. The best recruiter working in the best recruiting grounds state. The biggest name in college coaching coupled with one of the biggest brands in college sports. Texas can afford to negotiate its own channel with its current setup.

But expectations are getting to be too much for Mack Brown. There have been unconfirmed rumors of Texas making a run after Saban this past season. Just like in Notre Dame's case, desperation can open up pocketbooks.

But in this case, Texas has a much bigger purse with a bigger brand. And Nick Saban would destroy this round robin Big 12 schedule. If this ever happens, the SEC (as in the Securities and Exchange Commission) should step in for anti-trust reasons. Texas would love to get back at both A&M and the SEC, and this would pretty much do it."

It's like you've created an alter with a complete personality and 2k post count for this one single purpose. It could be the most thought out alter in the history of internets.

You're down right ridiculous. There was a time when Saban was a nobody probably below average coach. Was he a hired gun then too? No. He was good enough to work his way up to the LSU job. Then good enough to get a call from te NFL. He didnt like that and needed a place to coach in college again.

Moving up the chain isn't being a mercenary. That's what happens when you're one of the best coaches ever. How much would you bet on the idea of Saban being at Alabama longer than Sumlin is at A&M?

So removing the best coach in the country from a team in the same division as A&M is going to get back at them? How, exactly?

Texas would run a rape train worse than Bama if they got Saban. Would be scary.

Yup. He would lock down Texas, which has some of the best talent in the country. He would also have much easier competition in the BIG12. Him at Texas would be fricking downright ridiculous.

He likes the challenge.....three (3) letters....EGO!! You're premise is correct, but he has an EGO the size of Texas and loves $$$$$

But Saban seems to like competition. It's not as fun when you are the only team in your league worth a shite.

By taking the dominance of the SEC away. A&M jumped too soon and now they're part of the, mabye?, weaker SEC after Saban leaves? Then, if by some miracle (and what a miracle it would be), A&M ever played Texas for a NC, Texas would once again show their dominance of them. Saban led Texas would pound them into the ground!!
