Idk, he's a different breed. He looks like he's ready to kill someone when he's not coaching football. Did you watch the segment the other day where he explained a few plays from the NCG last year? He looked so awkward. Then finally got to talk football and they'd cut in....with NO success. He'd raise his voice like a teacher arguing with a student, it was funny.

The guy just has it. All he wants to do is tell guys what to do on a football field. I think he'll die on the sideline.

I dont think it would ever be a mental issue but at some point in a person's late 60's/early 70's they just start to slow down physically, especially with that kind of a lifestyle. You just can't pull 80 hour weeks anymore.

You didn't hear? Saban has been linked to Biogenesis too. He'll be good for 15 more years.

"There's so many good programs and so many good players," Saban told KSAN-TV. "The school systems in Texas are fantastic and they do a great job of developing players here and there's a lot of good football and a lot of good football players here. And, you know, it's not that far away from Alabama."

"AND IT'S NOT THAT FAR AWAY FROM ALABAMA"!! HELLO!!

NFL bait is much tastier and effective. Your Texas bait is too easy to spot and you can see the hook. You need better bait like the Cowboys, Bears, or the Packers. Those will happen WAY before the Longhorns.

If Saban wanted to move to a better city with better recruiting, he could be at USC or Texas or Florida or wherever right now. If he had his agent place a call to almost any school in the offseason, they would have replaced their coach with him. Why not? He's the best in the game. He hasn't, and I doubt he will. Could Texas pay more than Bama? Sure they could, but it would take such an obscene amount of money that they won't. That much money on a coach would be met with howls in Austin.

It ain't just about money. One of the biggies would be Saban knowing (in his mind) that he could win yet another NC at yet another school. That's a great motivating factor for a person such as him. And, as I pointed out before, don't think that non-SEC schools aren't ready for the end of the SEC run and would support a Saban move from the SEC in any way they could. Yet another motivating factor for Saban also...build SEC championship dominance and then take it to another conference.

The 'greatest of all time' aspect would be very attractive to an ego-centric person such as Saban.

Money is important but it ain't just about the money at all.

You're also ignoring the possibility of his ego wanting to match Bryant in NCs.

I thought so. KaiserSoze is misrepresenting us and propping up Univ. of Texas. Thanks for pointing that out.

That is Saban at his best, using the writer to make a recruiting pitch for him in Texas.

Saban's goal is to be crowned the greatest football coach of all time. He's on the train that will take him there right now.
