Alabama’s problem is that they don’t have a quarterback. Milroe made some athletic plays last night, he’s a great athlete. Bu, he also missed some touchdown throws that the Tide’s QBs of the last 15 years would have made.
As we all know, In today’s college football, the QB is crucial, and Jalen Milroe isn’t there yet. If he doesn’t get better soon, it’s going to be a real problem for Bama.

Yeah, because McElroy, McCarron, Sims, and Coker were all considered superstar QBs out of high school when the dynasty was in its prime.

The problem is development, conditioning, and scheme. The talent is there. Age has simply caught up to Saban.

NIL seems to have created more parity throughout all college football. It's a good thing

He’s not getting the same players. Recruiting rankings are all for people to buy the magazines. If they were the same players then Texas would not have looked waaay better.

It’s not NIL it’s the portal

Enter NIL. Now EVERYONE can buy a team. Bama recruiting falls off. Other teams began to siphon off the top players.

The problem is this is objectively not true. Bama's recruiting hasn't fallen off. Since the 247 talent composite was started in 2015, this year's Bama team has the second highest score since inception (highest was Bama last season).

Bama is landing top recruits and bringing in talented guys through the portal. The issue is they've missed at some key positions the last couple of cycles, particularly OL and WR. They're still landing who they want.

Everyone thinks Darwin is “survival of the fittest.” But what he really said was “adapt or die.” Nothing stays the same forever. Those that can adjust to changing circumstances will succeed. Those that don’t will fall by the wayside. Lil’ Nicky had a good run. Time for him & Ms. Terry to head for the beach and wait for the next hurricane!

There are a few posters on this board that have effectively married themselves to this take and will not be dissuaded from it no matter how much evidence is presented that it isn't true. We have talent all over the field. Even Milroe has incredible physical talent. Our main problems seem to be a) Developing the talent once we have it and b) Putting together a plan that makes the most of that talent, especially on offense.

This might have some validity except that Bama has been recruiting better than ever the last two or three years

We have everything it takes to win except the proper coaching and a quarterback.
And there is no excuse for either.
Talent alone will not by itself win against a motivated opponent.
Oh well, wait until next year.

LOL, Kirby is Saban 2.0; he simply found a way to tweak the process. He’s no different, no more virtuous. It isn’t about “hard work” in Athens any more than it was in Tuscaloosa.

I rewatched the game this morning, and just from my general CFB fan observation is I can't figure out why in the hell Saban keeps hiring these C list coordinators. Is it that people don't want to work for Saban anymore, or Saban thinks he can just win with anybody, or his judgement has been affected by his age? Alabama went from 2 of the best offensive minds in CFB in Kiffin and Sarkisian to Bill O'Brien? Anybody who watches even a little football said "WTF?". O'Brien's reputation was obliterated after his stint in the NFL, I don't know how he got into consideration. He finally gets rid of him and your thinking Saban is going to bring in a juggernaut OC, and it's 12 year old Tommy Rees who wasn't exactly dazzling at Notre Dame. Golding was a project that didn't work and he replaced him with Steele, who I think is still a good defensive coach but not exactly earth shattering.

Jalen Milroe looks almost exactly like Jordan Travis did 2 years, but will he be developed? Maybe I'm way off

Say what? Saban has suddenly forgot how to develop talent?
Saban suddenly doesn't have a plan?

bullshite! Saban has always been one of the best at developing talent once they were on his roster. His plan? His "plan" has got him more rings than he can wear on one hand.

No, his talent is now equal, not far superior to everyone else.

It’s not the recruiting . It’s the development, which is a far worse issue

This too.

Saban used to have a new class of 5 star recruits that were freshman and sophomore’s turning into Sophomore’s and Juniors to replace what he lost in the draft.

Now those kids aren’t waiting their turn. They are transferring out and he is having to get scrubs in the portal to fill in gaps until the 5 star freshmen that stay are ready

Sabuh once again:

1) finds himself trying to verbally intimidate young men who can just as easily make the same money elsewhere

2) fricked up his QB1 pick

It's the Miami Dolphins 2.0

Didn’t Saban just sign the #1 class that had more 5 stars than A&M’s class?

his choices in coordinators recently is what is confusing to me. I don't know if he thinks it doesn't matter who he hires or if coaches don't want to work for him any longer. They are second to none when it comes to talent. Yesterday I saw a bama team get pushed around. That is something you just don't see from a saban team.
