I have said this for years, and I still think it holds true today. There is an element of the Bama fan base whose lives suck soo much, that they yearn to attached themselves to a winning program. They have been looked down by most of society their entire life, so they search for element of the population that they can reciprocate that behavior. They use the Football Program as a form of superiority, and AU Fans have grown to resent that.

There are Mississippians that have done the exact same thing attaching themselves to the Alabama team. Some couldn't name over 5 players on the fricking team.

well thats a given for the bottom 90% of their fanbase.

I just don't understand my doctor friends who were born rich that like them...they don't even like the majority of their own fans.

You do understand Fan is short for fanatic.

fa·nat·ic /f?'nadik/

noun: fanatic; plural noun: fanatics

1. a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious, social or political cause.

They understand and live by that definition in Alabama.

I view them more as domestic terrorists than fans.

Fans likely do get more emotionally invested in sports the more their teams win. Since teams in the state of Mississippi rarely win anything, it is easy to see why they don't have same emotional investment as some fans in other states

Uneducated minds with low IQ's plus a sense of entitlement creates a derpy cocktail. That's really all there is to it, imo.

All that other stuff about people latching on to the team because their lives suck, or because they haven't accomplished anything worth a shite themselves could probably be said about sports fans the world over. Just look at some of the mouth-breathers you see at NFL tailgates, or the nutcases in Europe who riot after soccer matches. It's just the especially stupid/crazy people who can't separate entertainment from shite that is worth getting soul-crushingly upset over.

Wait a minute, the most obnoxious, ignorant fans I've ever met were Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee,
LSU, FSU, and Miami fans.
Oh yeah, they all shared one thing in common they never stepped foot on any of those campuses.

Bama and Auburn fans that are actually Alumni are fine.

I've always sort of ignored the "hurr durr there isn't anything else to do in Alabama or they're all inbred retards" reasoning behind it because wouldn't every other state in the South follow suit? Why would this hold true for AL and not MS?

Winning doesn't make a difference it seems. Both fan bases have been batshit since they've existed.

Why hasn't MS had the same crazy shite happen at some point in history between it's two schools?

What makes people from Alabama crazier than anyone else in the south?

Surely you aren't counting the West Georgia school in your calculations above, right?
