You can always tell when they have an ex-navy carrier pilot. Slam that thing on the deck and let the wires do their thing.
Once they learn it, there is no way to train it out of them.
Ex-Airforce guys use the entire runway, but they land smoothly....

Thank you for the review, Oh Great Arse! All I can say is do as many as you like. Your opinion is valuable to some of us. I had no idea LD was making these. Now I must go get some for Mother's Day. Might even drive to Starkville and take mom (96 years old) one. I bet she would like it, especially i...

I like Dickies just fine. If you gauge price vs quality and perceived value, IMO it would rate higher than many of the well-known places, where the prices have gone sky high.
I know many here never consider food cost at all when they eat out. If you are one of those, your opinion likely differs o...

Go take a look at what they have just outside the entrance door at Bucee's . We stopped at the one in east Dallas and they had what looked to me like an excellent selection (grill, smoker, offset firebox pit, combos). Built like tanks by some Texas company....

This has nothing to do with the Most Appealing accent request but is too funny not to share.
The wife and I went to Boston for a trip out onto the cape not too long ago. We landed at Logan and went to the rent a car stand. There was a black guy manning the counter and when I walked up, his mouth ...

I appreciate the few who say that Cast Iron all cooks the same.
Technically Iron has alloys, but most of the iron that is used for casting is close to the same, other than thickness, which may not even affect the rate of heat transfer, once the pan gets hot. A scientist of Metallurgy may claim t...
re: How Many Gas Station Giveaways Did Your Family Use?

The wife has a full set of American Sweetheart Depression Glass dishes. I think they were a gas station give away back in the day. I have no idea what they are worth. Many of the pieces sell for 10-12 dollars a piece. The serving bowl, platters, etc for much more than that.
They are pretty and we...

9/28/13 - Boy that was an old post!
Look what I found.
Here is my take on a dish that goes back to times when no piece of the animal was wasted. This is without a doubt the best tasting dish I have made in a long time. Huge comfort food points with this one.
