I still say you guys should've looked at UK's Kenny Payne. He's a Mississippi guy and even considered Southern Miss knowing the violations they'd potentially be dealing with post-Tyndall.

I just don't think it was so devoid of interest that only Rick Ray was interested.

They should have never fired Stansbury, he could recruit his arse off and had them consistently in the NCAA most years.

He made the NCAA Tourney 6 out of 14 years. That is every now and then, not consistently in the NCAA most years. He should have been fired, but as another poster stated we made the worst hire a decent program could make. We hired the second assistant of a program, Clemson, worse than our program. Made zero sense.

Yeah, when you had kids fighting in the stands and one doesn't even get his arse booted off the team then you have to cut ties. I don't blame State for having to do that. If half the things Twany Beckham said were true then shite truly was out of control.

But velour suit wearing Rick Ray.

Y'all have only made the tournament 10 times and he was responsible for six of them.

Disclaimer: This is in no manner an endorsement of Ole Miss basketball history or a comparison of our two respective programs.

Renardo Sidney just crossed half court.

Renardo Sidney was his downfall as far as I am concerned. I would have been content with keeping him until all the crap went down related to him. He took a gamble on the guy as the player who could get him over the hump in the NCAA tournament and lost. Not upset that he took a chance on him, but he should have known when to kick him out.

Did Stans get college bball blackballed?

How could that dude not find a gig elsewhere and wind up on A&Ms bench?

Hell he won 21 games the season before he was fired and was 8-8 in conference. That's not bad at all.

We would have made the tourney much more than this under Babe, but good ol' segregation stopped that. Richard Williams built our program not Stansbury.

Forgot about that.

State had some seriously talented players come through Starkville under Stansbury's watch though.

Mario Austin
Dee Bost
Jamont Gordon
Lawrence Roberts
Renardo Sidney
Jarvis Varnado

I'm convinced he took the A&M job thinking Kennedy was going to be fired soon and he'd take over the helm.
