By realistic expectations I mean that is we took an average of a coaches record over a 5 year period, what would each school's fanbase (or should they) see as adequate?

Followup, what is the WORST single season record a coach can have and not be fired or put immediately on the super hot seat for the following season?

i expect 7-5 season at worst or it might be time to consider hiring Dabo or Urban.

My expectations for AU would be to play for an SEC title every 3 or so seasons and win 2-3 SEC titles a decade. Generally, winning an SEC title should put you in the conversation for the natty, so that part should on average handle itself.

Expressed in 1-Year terms...

Programs that need to go at least 10-2 or better each year for the fans to stay happy...

Alabama

Programs that need to go at least 9-3 or better each year for the fans to stay happy...

Auburn
Florida
Georgia
LSU

Programs that need to go at least 8-4 or better each year for the fans to stay happy...

Tennessee
Texas A&M

Programs that need to go at least 7-5 or better each year for the fans to stay happy...

Arkansas
Ole Miss
Miss St.
South Carolina

Programs that need to go at least 6-6 or better each year for the fans to stay happy...

Kentucky
Missouri

Programs that need to go at least 5-7 or better each year for the fans to stay happy...

Vanderbilt

**Of course the Big 6 are also going to want an SEC Title to come around at least once every 4-5 years. For Bama that would be more often... more like every 2 years or so.

Pretty fair expectation. I'd assume that a 6-6 type season immediately puts you in hot water (sans some sort of fantastic resume prior) and anything less than that is at the very least a "prove it next year or you are gone" type thing?

Needs to be 'more' more often than 7-5. Most Arkansas fans seem to think a realistic average would be 8 to 9 a year. More than a year or two of 7-5 in a row would not result in happy fans.

A coach goes 6-6 at LSU and he's in hot water and the fanbase is pissed off.

As a Gator fan, maybe not a typical Gator fan, but my expectation is to compete every year for the divisional championship, finishing no worse than second in the division. To win an overall SEC title at least every 4 years or so and to compete for a Natty at least once every 5 years. so, over a 5 year period, more than 48 wins. I don't believe that one year should do a coach in, unless you lose to Georgia Southern and Vandy in the same year. For me, a couple years of less than 8 wins should warm the seat up.

Bert has an overall losing record and conference record and he is no where near a hot seat.

But the first 2 years were clearly rebuilding to the core.

His last 3 years he is 22-17 (10-14). And if he goes 7-5 again he will 100% be on the hot seat.

You really think Vol fans are happy at 8-4 seasons? Lol.

Talking about this upcoming year:
7-5 would probably get Sumlin fired, might get Butch fired (not sure buyout-wise), would at least put Gus on the hotseat
6-6 would probably get McElwain and Smart on the hotseat
5-7 might get Bert fired, would get Stoops back on the hotseat
4-8 Derek Mason's seat would get warm, Mullen could probably go 4-8 and keep his job

Orgeron, Odom, and Muschamp are new enough/took over bad enough programs to where I think they'll be given time no matter the on-field record.

Saban is currently untouchable, could go 0-12 fans would be pissed but no way he gets fired. Freeze is already going to get a show-cause

Agreed. 8-4 ticks me off. Not too many people were completely satisfied with last season and we won 9 games.

You do have to look where we were 2010-2015 and recognize that were not back to what we used to be. But I think we are in the 9-3 category at this point going forward

But for the large buyout Bert's seat would be warmer then most Cajun spices. 6 or 7 wins this year and the fans will go into 2018 baying for blood... his and the AD's.

No were not. But we were never going to fire him after last season. There were too many big name vacancies and we would've ended up with another disappointing mid-major guy.
