I'm looking forward to the first ever college football players strike.

Sure it'll come one day.

I have commented on the boosters plenty.

Not sure they'll give him enough time to tear it down and build it back.

This has been my concern from the start. I don't think we have the balls to do what it takes to build a long term successful program instead of the 7-5, 8-4 program with a standout season every 4-6 years.

What? Four years of playing high school football is an entire life of work now?
The majority start a lot sooner and they are young, so yeah their timeline is much shorter. But doesn't take away from the fact that they've been working for this opportunity for most of their lives.

Well, do away with athletic scholarships then. That is a revenue they apparently no longer need.

Give out more academic scholarships to kids who can't sign an NIL and can't afford college who deserve to be there.

Go look up number of kids getting NIL and the average amount. Many football programs are still making a killing, others view offering kids a scholarship in exchange for the time and effort needed to help field a team.

This is a very childish and reactionary line of thought you are taking here.

Just my rant. Disagree all you want.

Lost in your rant is how teams can work the magic portal for instant success. The pool of talent available is much more promising and less hit and miss than high school recruiting. The evaluation is just as intense right now as any high school hat party.

You left that part out.

I'm curious why so many think this is the destruction of college football.

Your allegiance is to your school - first and last. I would think most fans could care less who it is wearing that uniform.

Cam Newton is one of the most revered icons in Auburn sports history - care to remind us how long he spent at the school?

If your fandom hinges on how successful the team is, then you're not really a fan are you? Whether guys are transferring in or out at record clips shouldn't impact how hard you root for the team - it might just impact whose jersey you buy (if you do that kind of thing).

I will admit I was skeptical with guys signing pretty large deals before the season, but Bryce Young didn't seem phased by it, and the amount of flops this year by "big time" players like Rattler, DJ Ugladfdaf, Nix, etc. will soften the demand as the sport moves forward. Or it won't, and a new normal will emerge. Either way, it sounds like some need to reassess what college football is to you and chill out.

NIL is still in it's infancy. Just wait. Nothing childish about what I said. I'm being a realist.

Because people are afraid of change. I’m sure many thought the forward pass would ruin football back in the day

Sure, when and if it moves along to be adequately funded to offer players appropriate money, they can take away scholarships if they want - although the final form after all re-alignment and postseason changes have taken place will dictate whether or not that is necessary.

But saying since players are allowed to potentially make NIL money they shouldn't be offered scholarships anymore is childish.

As people get older, I think they're interest diminishes. The sport is pretty ridiculous now. Has been for a while. People go on to other things to invest their time and energy into. Maybe that's just me, maybe that's how most people are.. I don't know. But I don't like seeing something that I used to love become something different. Fans will adapt to the new systems within the sport. I just don't care to and will not be the fan I once was and maybe there a more reasons for that than just these new changes.

He was referred to at the time as a hired mule. There's a reason for that.

Again, for the 3rd time this has nothing to do with Auburn, and I'm not the kind of person to buy a college football jersey. I have a few AU t-shirts though.

In my opinion, the transfer portal and NIL are making college football even more entertaining. And, honestly this is making the athletes consider fit and coaching first and foremost.

Overall it’s a good rule but I do believe they need to tweak the punishment some.

What’s you view on capitalism and the free market or do those concepts only apply after you graduate college

Are we calling college football players professional paid athletes now?

What punishment are you referring to?

I apparently look like Bill Murray. Check out my picture under my name.

Do you know what socialism is?

Are you referring to Marxist Socialism?

This hasn’t been an amateur sport for a long long time now. This has been a major revenue generating sport and players have been getting paid since at least the 60s, albeit under the table.

I believe players have the right to capitalize off their achievements and talents since they are responsible for about 90% or more of the product on the field

Who gives a shite what a Cincinnati fan on a SEC board cares.

I mean, as if you actually were a Cincinnati fan. And since you're probably more likely an alter, it's a give less a shite.

One of the things that made me start losing interest is growing up.

Remember when you were young and dumb (maybe some of you are still at this point) and coaches seemed to be there for the school. They showed complete enthusiasm and allegiance to the school they coached for.. then they leave and go to another school. And they put on the same exact show from the last school. Coaches don't give two shits for their school. They put on the same silly dog and pony show job stop after job stop. It's all show. It's all business. Not at all about the school.

Saban, probably the greatest college coach ever, doesn't give a shite about the University of Alabama. He only cares about his football program. He pretty much even hates their fanbase. This isn't a rant about Saban hating. I don't hate the man, just ready for him to retire...

Players are becoming the same thing. That kinda kills it for me. I could sort of handle the silliness of coaches pretending to care about the school they were at, but I don't care for the players to be that way. Takes away from the "pageantry" of college sports to me.
