Same reason it's hard for a Big 12 team to win now. Winning a shitty conference is not a recipe for winning a natty. OU had Nebraska as a partner in the Big 8. We didn't have anybody who could challenge us without massive cheating scandal.

The exact opposite seems to be the majority in my experience. The more wealth the more they want to turn their competition in, usually for the things they are doing and assuming the competition is doing too.
The PPC was disbanded for cheating, and the irony was when reformed as the PAC, the 2 schools who had not cheated were not invited to join.
Go figure.

I have been to both austin and B/CS, I would not attend either on a full ride. You go where you feel at home. austin makes some feel that way, B/CS makes others feel that way. I am just happy I live in a country (at the moment) where it is still my choice. You also go (if you have some horse sense) where you get the degree that fits best what you want to do in life. I probably would have attended Vanderbilt but they did not have a core strength in my study. I do respect that one of their strongest Colleges is not Law or Science, but Education.

That is an excuse rather then being a man and making the conference better. Quit making excuses and just bust your arse more.
