Texas A&M was invited to join the SEC to make the SECN possible and upgrade the conference academics.

The better question is this: Why have we done better in our first 4 years in the SEC than we did in our last 4 seasons in the Big 12? I thought the SEC was really good at football and stuff

Damn man!!! How bad were y'all in the last 5 years of the Big12???

A&M and Football power don't even belong in the same sentence. To even post the question is either dumb or a weak attempt at trolling.

From a purely football standpoint, is it more fair to say you have done better outside of your conference while in the SEC than in the last five years of your time in the Big12.

But that strictly conference wise, you've been about the same?

You've beat the two strongest teams in your division one time since you have been in the SEC. You've won the conference title zero times. Maybe I am missing the sarcasm about doing better in the SEC.

They left because they were tired of being 3rd or 4th in Texas each year not to mention 5th or 6th best in the big 12.

Prior to joining SEC

Texas
TCU
aTm
Baylor
Texas tech

If they stayed in big 12 Baylor would now be above them

Big 12 now if they stayed

Oklahoma
Texas
TCU
Baylor
Ok st

17-15 vs. 15-18, so no.

By the accounts on this board, our record should have been at least several games worse due to the supposed difficulty of the SEC. Removing Manziel (who transitions between a generational talent and a lucky substance abuse addict depending on the topic, but that's different) we've gone 7-9 the last two years vs a .500 record in the Big 12 under Sherman. Why are the records so close?

I'm not sure what you are arguing.

You said you are better in the SEC, and then you say the records are close.

What point are you trying to convey?

A&M dominated the SWC for several years throughout the 80s and early 90s. The Big12 hasn't been around for that long...

Mizzou sucks, why did we add them? Ignoring that Mizzou has won a divison twice and has a better record in the SEC the past four years than most of the schools.

A&M sucks, why did we add them. Ignoring same stats.

same stats? So being 5th best in a division is like winning a division? Fuh chrissakes.

I'm arguing that the SEC isn't what people on here crack it up to be as far as football strength

It's either that or Sumlin is considerably better than Sherman if we are still adjusting for the supposed difficulty factor of the SEC

They weren't horrible. But in the 9 years leading up to expansion, they were exactly .500.

Coincidentally (or not) A&M was placed on probation twice during those years they 'dominated' the SWC.

ETA: Notice how much time is left. Oklahoma could have easily put up 100 on them.

Y'all are literally the only fanbase left that gives a shite about probation and not paying players.
