We were never expected to win more than 5 games when we joined

Neither were we. Two division titles (14-2 SEC record) and it was all injuries and bad coaches. Then we have a decimated OL, a QB kicked off the team and all of a sudden we are bad again and don't belong. They love to cherry pick only the data that supports their arguments.

Nearly identical record to LSU's record since we've been in the SEC.

Well, if you look at conference championships and national championships across all sports since A&M joined the SEC, A&M is leaps and bounds better than LSU.

Not sure how you inferred I was being defensive. If we want to talk mediocrity, all is fair game. It's the most competitive league. Further, 8 wins in the SEC is stronger than more wins in the Big12.

I'd say there is parity across the board, with the exception of Alabama winning the SEC lately.

Because the SEC has elevated A&Ms recruiting abilities to Blue Chip level. Same reason folks are justifiably high on Tenn. here is what the SEC has done to A&M recruiting and why it's only a matter of time before they break through:

2012- 16th
2013- 9th
2014- 5th
2015- 11th

If you consistently pull top 10ish classes more than likely your team can play at a championship level.

You left out their 2016 recruiting ranking - 19th.

For comparison..
2007- 42
2008- 16
2009- 25
2010- 19
2011- 35

Clearly their recruiting has benefited from being in the SEC. So you're welcome A&M.

You don't recall correctly. Everyone thought A&M would be terrible. That is why 2012 was so much fun. No one saw it coming.

Wow I really don't remember people thinking that. I actually thought that A&M joining the SEC would give them a big boost in recruiting.Has that not been the case?Maybe people thought you would struggle your first year in the league ?? Pretty sure nobody saw Manziel coming on like he did. Not even aggy

It was predicted that A&M would finish last in year 1.

No, we didn't see Manziel coming at all.

But being in the SEC has definitely bolstered recruiting.

I actually enjoy the cheap win against them every year in football. It's an automatic W when looking at the schedule for next year. That in itself is enough to have aTm in the SECw.
