Who have those team beaten better tha MSU and Florida? Why should they have been ahead of us? Some silly eyeball test?

Ranking should be based off what you've accomplished. To that point in the season, the only team with any argument to be higher than us was Clemson.

Mich State beat undefeated #12 Michigan and #7 Oregon.

This is a good example of how preseason rankings pretty much screw things up. Oregon is 3 loss team now.

Mich St, of course, lost last weekend to a horrible Nebraska team. But say Mich State would have beaten Nebraska handily, would they deserve a #1 ranking with their 2 good signature wins (a good #12 Mich and #7 Oregon)

Why would I be chapped in the arse? I'm just trying to have a fun discussion. Who should've been ahead of you? maybe based on some opinion... These teams have seemed to be more complete teams than LSU all year. Ohio State Michigan State Iowa Florida is your only real good win. And it was a good win. I'm just saying your ranking is arguable. Not saying it was wrong or right.

Much State won against Mich on the luckiest play in recent history. Nothing impressive about that win. Oregon this year is nothing special. You're making my point that Mich State shouldn't be ahead of us.

I guess if I were a fan of a team that was on the outside looking in on the top ranked teams, I'd try to poke holes at the "system" and the rankings of each team.

Quick question dan.....in the preseason were you against the rankings for 2015? Were you pissed that JJ was the top Heisman candidate? Were you irritated that AU was chosen to not only win the SEC, but make the playoff?

I agree with him

If Bama wins out, they are in. If they lose, they are almost for sure out. Why would he worry

Same with Dabo Meyer Ferentz Briles and Gundy. If those 5 teams win out (obviously only 3 of the 5 can), then 3 of those 5 are in

It matters to the players I guarantee it. They won't say it obviously..next opponent blah blah. But you know these kids hold pride in their ranking.

Who is Alabama's "signature win"?

well, if you look at their schedule compared to everyone else's, even the teams that fell after losing to Bama (A&M, UGA - though they were a different team with Chubb - Wisconsin, etc) as still higher than many of the other ranked teams wins.

Wisconsin has two losses. One to #2 in country and another (by 4 points) to the #5 team in the country. Otherwise, they've dominated their schedule.

Bama has wins over teams ranked #8, #12, #20, #23, #24, and #26 in the FPI. I quit looking after those 6 b/c no other team has more than 3 over teams ranked in the top 30. If you use that same metric for everyone, then Bama has more of a claim to having "signature" wins than any team in the country.

Heck, Ohio State's highest ranked opponent thus far is #37. Clemson has wins over #9 and #18. Notre Dame has wins over #7 and then their next best win is over #30.

We get it. You hate Bama. That said, if you look at it objectively, they've got a better resume (even with the loss) than anyone else if you are looking at "who did you beat".

So the win doesn't count? Of course it was lucky, but a win is a win. That was a close great game all 4 qrts.

I don't get all worked up over preseason rankings. I didn't really care about Auburn being ranked #6, didn't care that JJ was a Heisman contender. If the team and JJ played better, then it all would've worked itself out. I don't believe a team should benefit from a prediction which is what preseason rankings are.

I would've loved seeing AU make the final 4, but I'm not slitting my wrists over this season if that's what you're asking.

But you do get worked up over Alabama, no problem it's not too noticeable.

Bama has a 1 in the loss column. And I don't hate Bama. My brother is a Bama fan. We are "normal".

Can make the same argument with ND. Like I said, I'm just wasting time discussing this because it's interesting and fun. I could argue your side and enjoy myself too.

You spend too much time on this message board. When someone has has a different viewpoint or creates a discussion, it doesn't necessarily mean anything...

Seriously, stop with that bullshite. One of the reasons this place and a majority of the posters are tiresome.

What he says about the early rankings is probably true. But he is damned liar saying he doesn't care. He would be saying plenty if he were ranked, say 5 right now.
