In SEC play, Pressey is averaging 7.6 pts a game to go along with his 4.5 turnovers a game.

And the reason I don't think I'd have him on the 1st team. He's a solid playmaker but tends to get out of control. His shooting and shot selection is atrocious. His defense is mediocre at best. The kid can create for others, but really one dimensional in his play.

Guards usually average around 40% so I don't see how that's that bad. He's still arguably one of the best players in the league at this. You won't see anyone else arguing that fact at this time.

Yep, definitely a very good balanced team. No one particularly stands out big, but they are solid at all 5 starting spots and have 3 contributing bench players. Nobody else in this league can say that.

And it's sad that they can't take it as a compliment to their players and their staff. Cause it shows how good a coach Billy D really is. Again if they can give a legitimate argument then okay, but I haven't seen one yet.

Young, Boynton, Murphy, and Wilbekin will all be in there somewhere.

You are fricking high if you think that.

Stats don't tell the whole story people.

My God. People this isn't an NBA Mock Draft list. This is a SEC 1st and 2nd team prediction list. Stats are the story here. UF might get Murphy or Young in over O'Bryant just so that the best team has a player on that list, but thats about it. You're starting to remind me of the Alabama football fans who think all the Alabama starters should be on the SEC first team.

LOL no
And here's another guy who's looking at steals as if it defines how good a defender someone is.

Oh, so you want to argue head to head matchups?

Here's one:

Wilbekin: 13 pts, 10 assists, 3 turnovers
Pressey: 2 pts, 6 assists, 10 turnovers

Good guards don't shoot at a 37% clip.

Wilbekin is shooting at a 48% clip.

It's not hard to average nearly 50% when you take 4 shots a game.

If stats told the whole story, then how do you explain Chandler Parsons winning SEC POY in '10-'11?

He's taking over 7 shots per game, actually.

Hmm. I was wrong. I guess when he's only averaging 9 pts a game, I assumed he only took around 4 shots a game.

Stats in SEC play:

Wilbekin: 10.7 ppg, 5.7 apg, 2.2 tpg
Hickey: 13.8 ppg, 2.8 apg, 1.3 tpg

Points aren't everything. I prefer having a point guard who can pass the ball as well as score.

Any reason you left out steals. You can't just ignore that Hickey is leading the NCAA in steals.

What about steals and rebounds? You can't just pick and choose which stats to fit your argument.

LSU fans overrate Hickey as a defender like they overrated Chris Paul as a defender.

Honestly I don't think Wilbekin is a 1st or 2nd team quality player. Neither is Patric Young IMHO.

Boynton and Murphy certainly are. I really don't have a problem with your first team, they're all deserving. But I'd be surprised if a majority of SEC head coaches wouldn't take Boynton and Murphy over guys like Hickey, JOB, Oriakhi, and Sullivan.

I'd take Young over Oriaki and Boynton over Hickey. Thing is I'd still take the Powell kid at the 4 over Young.

As I said earlier, I guess I could move Boynton the 3 spot on 2nd team and take out BJ Young.

I didn't include "steals" as they're not necessarily a primary stat when judging point guards.

Hickey is great at getting his hand into passing lanes and pushing tempo, but he's mediocre in halfcourt sets. Wilbekin is the best defender on the best defensive team in the country (KenPom).

Hickey is averaging about 4.2 spg in SEC play, though.

I also could have easily posted shooting percentages in SEC play as well, though. Hickey is 38.6% from the field (34.8% from 3), while Wilbekin is 51.0% from the field (47.4% from 3).

He's underrated by everyone else, though. Hickey doesn't do anything especially well other than steal the ball. No way in hell he's a better player than Wilbekin.

I'd put Pressey, Releford, Wilbekin, and Summers all over Hickey. But whatever.

He has been lately. Whether or not he'll keep it up remains to be seen, though.
