Georgia is immensely underrated as a terrible fan base

They teach their children to bark like dogs. Dogs don't even say woof. Adults, men, women, little old ladies...BARK...LIKE...DOGS.

It's so sad to watch if you think about it.

I was in Athens in 2007. Me, my wife (she's UGA grad), and her female cousins (AU grads) were grabbing a quick bite to eat before the game in downtown Athens. 4 grown men, ages 45-60 began verbally assaulting my wife's 20 something year old cousins. Whores, bitches, etc were a few names that came out. I said "okay guys were leaving, but one question, don't you guys have daughters and granddaughters their ages?" I was threatened, I laughed and we left. Athens is the most terrible experience I have ever had in college sports. It's on a different level of hateful bitterness. It's not a welcoming place. And everyone of their fans embrace it. I don't know if the fan base is just mad or it really is the Richt thug effect.

That video : It's almost as if one team was winning, and the other was losing.

Yeah, the video has nothing to do with shitty fans, it's just one side happy and the other side sad as all normal people are when they are winning or losing.

Oh it gets better, later that night beer bottles were flying at Auburn fans at "generals bar", that's what it was called then. Tough guy Georgia guys trying to single out the one Auburn fan that's with his girl. I'm sorry but it's just unfriendly and hateful. There's jabbing amongst all fan bases but Athens is a very bad place.

Story alread has holes in it.I was at the game and LSU
won 27-23 in extremely close game where the lead changed back in forth several times.Hodson threw a late TD pass to win the game.

If that happens, you call the cops.

These stories are all consistent with the "Auburn got its arse kicked, let's play the victim" company line that has been all to common with Auburn in several venues over the past few years.

Oh I know we have our isolated pansies from other SEC schools, but the Auburn thing is a theme.

Spit is apparently our newest intimidation tactic. Better educate yourself on the new Athens Thunderdome.

Eh, nice bar scene so long as you don't wear your teams colors. I never experienced the same anger from opposing fans when I was in Baton Rogue, Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, or Gainesville. The funny thing was, UGA beat the crap out of AU that year too lol. But it's probably just me, I'm a lightining rod for controversy and a sucker for wrestle mania.

Is anyone else amazed that during the preseason we usually get selected as one of the better fan bases and are always towards to top of everyone's list for fans to tailgate with but suddenly we're the worst fans in America

Ah,the ole "beer bottles" were thrown at us talking point.Right in line with being "spit on" and lets never
forget about the Georgia fans "who get in face of children and bark"

At least everybody has their stories straight.

frick that shite. What kind of pussy thinks like this?

If it's gameday I'm wearing my schools colors. Get butthurt about it if you want.

In 2008 the day of that fated UF vs Ole Miss game in the swamp (promise game), I was invited to sit in the players parents area at UTexas (sister was working as a trainer for football) for the Texas vs Arkansas game. I was instructed to wear a Texas shirt, because it would be disrespectful to wear anything else in that part of the stadium, specially because those were 50 yard tickets in the lower level that were free.

I reluctanly did. We all know what happened. I kept checking my phone for that extra point after the TD in the fourth Q. What a terrible day.

Re: GA fan base.

I went to the WLOCP in 2008. The entire pre-game time, I had to hear barking in my face while we were walking, and watched a lot of bravado and d-baggery before the game.

We all know what happend in that game. (Best game I've ever been to). They were gone by the 4th Q, but the few who stayed by the end, none were friendly, and some were still drunk assholes trying to provoke hubby into fighting.

sure they did!

When I was younger I used to get offended by obvious lies liek this when people talked about Athens. From high school even up to me attending UGA, I always tried to refute everyone's claims. "Well...you just had some bad eggs, we're mostly good I promise! Where I tailgate we'll invite you in for food and beer, let me make it up to you next time you're here!"

Now that I'm older, ya know what? I'm glad that happened. Don't come back, we don't want you. Your little ol' granny being wheeled around in a wheelchair on her 95th birthday wanting to watch her team one last time before death? Glad she got pelted with boulders all the way down lumpkin. Your newborn baby just being pushed along peacefully in her graco? Glad some hooligan ran and did a liu kang style flying kick direclty into her frontal lobe. I'm glad you were pelted with rocks, spit on, cussed at, and had liquor bottles rain down from above as soon as you crossed into athens clarke county.

I hope that serves as a reminder. Stay the frick out, you aren't wanted anyway.

Opposing fans suck all the time, but there are also visiting fans who maybe have a drink or two too many and misremember things.

I'm sure those SC fans you were with hated the experience they had in Athens. And every Bama fan that came to our tailgate this weekend was accommodated with free food and beer.

Some people love to get worked up over a couple douchebag fans that everyone has. It's not acceptable, but it's not that big of a deal and my life isn't worse because I've been taunted after my team lost.
