I despise Urban Meyer. But to put Aaron Hernandez's actions at Urban Meyer's feet is absurd. At a certain point, you're responsible for your own actions. It's not as if Aaron Hernandez never encountered anyone who tried to steer him in the right path.
Lots of people have rough circumstances, whether it's poverty, no dad, no mom, parents involved in drugs, growing up in abusive home, child abuse, molested, etc. And a lot of those people end up being productive citizens who don't break the law.
Ultimately, you have to make the choice to do better for yourself. It's not Urban Meyer's fault Aaron Hernandez was a psychopath.

Bullshite. You cannot put Saban and Urban in the same light. Urban is a piece of Shite! He will eventually implode at OSU and leave a burning house.
Saban left every program better than he found it. Hell, he left my Tigers in such good shape even Les could win a BCS Championship. His players love him and play hard.

Urban should have disciplined Hernandez though. He had multiple reasons to do so, but never did.
So to me that says a lot when a coach won't suspend you and you think you've done no wrong.

Belicheck seems more liable than Meyer, why does Urban get more shite about this than the hoodie.

Totally. Tebow actually ordered this hit because he heard Hernandez was about to get his conviction overturned. Tim's actually Keyser Soze, baseball's just a low profile activity to do until the heat dies down.

The only thing I remembered for certain was that he was found in his car in his garage, maybe it wasn't a suicide. Either way it definitely appears to have been a pivotal moment for Meyer.

Unless it was some theatre production of "West Side Story" you point seems invalid

Of course not, he was a Bronco, Jet, Patriot, and Eagle
Everybody knows Tebow is Baby Jesus for "Talladega Nights"

Dumbassery does not become you. All of those LSU beatdowns under the command of true leader Tim Tebow still have your panties all twisted.

this thread is so stupid. Not a coaches' responsibility to make people great human beings. They should help, but can't expect them to work character miracles. Hernandez was probably beyond help. It might be fair to criticize a little, but there is certainly no liability.

Urban made zero effort though. Instead of disciplining him when he should have, he praised him and played him. He would preach that he tries to help them become men, but I don't see an ounce of that here.
That says it all to me.

If I am a recruit, I would avoid going to Urban. He seems to have a high rate of suicides/deaths of players he's coached. Seems to be a lot higher of a percentage than the general population. Coincidence? I think not.
This is known as the Clinton Syndrome.

I guess anything folks don't agree with is now "SJW" whether it makes sense or not..
IMO a SJW blames EVERYONE and EVERYTHING else for their predicaments instead of taking a look inside.. IDGAF what anyone says, Aaron KNEW what he was doing was wrong!! I can't stand Urban Meyer, BUT to say that he should be held liable for Aaron's actions is utter bullshite...

So you don't think there was a thing Urban could do?

No one but Aaron Hernandez made the decision to be a cold blooded killer.

I think it's fair to say Urban did a bad job with Aaron Hernandez, and I think we could speculate the Meyer kept Hernandez out of serious legal trouble during his UF time. He also endorsed AH to the Pats I believe. AH is responsible for his actions, not Urban, but Urban has nothing to be proud of here.
I think arguing that Urban did the right things, or even the minimum we expect of a college coach to do discipline wise would be a hard argument to make with respect to AH. I would hope if Meyer could go back he would do things differently, but there is so much money and pride on the line who can say.
