I'm trolling? You're the one that said your team's city, which doesn't really have a great rep anyway, offers the best of something, when you readily admit you haven't seen many other cities.

I didn't know till this year that Williams-Brice Stadium was not on campus. Is that the only SEC school without an on campus stadium?

I read this as having a university with clear delineating lines from the surrounding area. Some universities are built right into the city, and that's what I don't like.

School has to feel as it it stands alone.

Part of the reason I chose USC over other SEC schools was because of the campus-within-a-town-within-a-city feel.

obviously, i chose USC too, but i also went to grad school at UTK, where the campus was more segregated from the core city.... same as LSU... which has allowed to school to grow and have more green space, not to mention stadiums and arenas on campus. USC is having to grow toward the Vista and compete w/ industrial development and having a major road like Assemby bisecting doesn't help w/ a campus environment. USC/Columbia is more like UT/Austin except UT was able to envision their needs beyond 40 acres.

Go to the University of Houston for a good idea of what an "urban campus" is. It sucks. Hard.

Well yeah it's in an absolutely awful part of Houston.

On the other hand how about Rice? Right smack in the middle of West U, the Medical Center. I would say its very nice and far from being awful.

mostly college town, but I love some urban campuses (USC/UCLA, UW-Seattle are pretty nice ones)

Rice is a good example. Love that area and proximity to Hermann Park, the Village, etc. Also has some of the nicest oaks in Houston.

My only complaint with the campus is that it is a bit small. That being said, it certainly gives the feel of a stand alone campus with the amenitites of the large city nearby.

College of Charleston is another one that seemingly stands alone in more of a city environment (if Charleston can be classified as a city).

I'm more on the "College Town" side I guess. But of "college towns" I prefer the larger ones. Smaller than a true "city", but larger than Starkville, Clemson, Blacksburg, etc.

Obviously I'm heavily biased, but Athens fits my tastes perfectly.

Agreed. Athens is about as perfect as it gets. As far as size/layout are concerned Columbia is pretty much exactly the same. While I'd argue that the on campus atmospheres are equally nice, Athens as a whole is better. However, Columbia's downtown area (a couple blocks from campus) is about as ideal as it gets.

There are only two urban cities I know in the SEC. Baton Rouge and Nashville.

Columbia, SC and Knoxville as well.

Bryan-CS is teetering on that list too.

STFU. Your opinion doesn't matter if you like your school's city.
