...with the possibility of an NCAA investigation on the way dealing with the David Saunders disaster?

LINK /

Hughes took a $135000 pay cut to leave msu for Jackson state. I can't fathom the idea of anyone willingly leaving that much cash on the table to coach at a bit lower level of a school. Did he decide it was worth giving up that much salary to avoid the NCAA onslaught possibly on the way to Starkville?

I don't have a premium subscription to the clarion ledger. Look for an X somewhere on the screen to click.

Yeah - that's exactly what it said in the article.

Is there anywhere in the article that specifically states why he took that pay cut?

Yeah - he wanted to be a head coach and was willing to do anything to reach that goal. In this case, a pay cut.

The only thing you have to do to avoid the clarion ledger subscription is delete your cookies/history and you're good to go

That is one hell of a pay cut. Has there been anyone else recently that took that big of a percentage cut to go to a bottom level school?

Sounds like one hell of a spin to me. But nah...people take a 3rd of their salary pay cut all the time....

Then I don't know what else to tell you. Make up your own story. You are getting pretty good at it.

Lot of coaching changes at msu recently. Where there's smoke...there's fire.

He took a $100k pay cut to leave Starkville and the SEC to live and work in the shithole that is Jackson.

I hope after OM recovers from the death penalty, our new coaches establish a culture similar to Mullen's.

How is this deflecting? It's has a direct relationship with our issues that we aren't denying.

I don't think you know what deflect means...

$135k

The difference in that, alone, is the median income for the state of Mississippi.

"Bear controlled media"

"CL is a rag and I canceled my subscription"

Typical msu talking points when they realize the CL isn't their personal fan paper.

I think he had to. No better option. He knows about Brooksville and Simmons.
