Three years. I like Billy and hope he makes it, but I wonder if he can deal with all those millionaires with monstrous egos?

I agree. Much like Saban, he is made for college athletics. This is why I believe he will be the next UA BB coach.

enjoy the John Pelfrey era Gator fans!!!!!

His dumbfounded 1000 mile stares on the sideline are very comforting to fans!

Unfair to say when he hasn't coached a second in the NBA yet.

Fair enough. I was using a great assumption. He could be amazing at the NBA level. I just think that as previously stated, he won't like asking millionaires to do things rather than telling scholarship athletes to do things.

Maybe, I've always thought Donovan would make a good NBA coach. I think he has the personality to succeed at the next level. I hope so anyway, I don't want to see him coaching somewhere else in college like Spurrier and Meyer.

It is being reported now by the Gainesville Sun and SI.

Sad day, but wish him nothing but the best. Easily my favorite coach in any sport.

this happened during the coaching carousel, Shaka Smart would have been the odds on favorite. He is probably a little bummed the way this worked out, although he has a great job at Texas.

The coach that is most bummed about how everything turned out was Howland going to State. He jumped on that job a little too quickly haha

There's a reason he's been considered the favorite to replace Coach K when he retires from Team USA

Clue me in on what other Adidas sponsored schools had openings? Howland was only going to an Adidas school

Saban could have been successful had he stuck with Miami, and I think Donovan will do great in the pros.

If Drew Brees gets cleared by the Miami doctors we may never see Saban at Bama

Anthony Grant would be a home run hire by the Gators.

Saw somewhere yesterday that he is likely going to follow him to OKC

I remember a few short weeks ago how Gator fans were telling me how good Coach Anthony Grant is. Time to bring UF back to prominence!

Congratulations to Billy Donovan. Well deserved. He is inheriting both Westbrook and Durant and a good situation in general. Those jobs rarely present themselves. Im sure it was hard to leave Florida, but this is just too good an opportunity to turn down.
Steve Kerr and Phil Jackson are the only ones that I can remember walking into a terrific situation day 1.
