Objectively, however, it hasn't been.

To me the schedules “pre” joining should stand. As of July 2024 then it all starts new. The Tenn future series was after go live so of course it was canx. But this game was pre SEC and I still say of GA had wanted to play it they would have.

We likely would lose but maybe not as big as you think. And it would have been a nice benchmark for both teams. I know the stated reason was the 2nd game couldn’t be played but thats life. It left us scrambling to find a makeup game when teams schedule OOC games a decade or more in advance.

Anyways, I was responding to a poster who claimed GA is playing everyone on schedule. Well, when that is manipulated it matters. No one will ever convince me that game could not be played if GA wanted to play it.

What would be ironic is if we win the B12 and make playoffs and line up vs GA. We’ll be a different team end of year vs start due to so many young players and portals (roster turnover). Once schemes are learned we’ll end better than the start.

But I like big games and regardless how bad our record was last year, I was lookimg forward to the game. Now we get Bama at home in 2024 instead. And Bama/TX didn’t canx their game this year. Credit to them

Most UGA fans wanted to see the game. We would have traveled to Norman in droves...if OU fans were in a selling mood we may have taken over the stadium (not likely but with the way last season went for OU it may have). UGA has been playing a quality OOC opponent for most of the last 20 years or so...since Smart became head coach we have played (and beat) North Carolina, Notre Dame twice, Clemson and Oregon in the regular season. All of these were ranked in the top 25 when we played them...Clemson and ND was #3 and #7. Oregon was #11. That is 5 top 25 OOC regular season matchups in 7 years, one of which was the COVID year and the only OOC game was the peach bowl against Cincinatti. It is VERY unlikely that UGA lobbied the conference to cancel the game. I don't buy the reasons the conference have offered as legit but they are probably the actual reasons because they seem like the ham fisted thinking of a bureaucracy. It is a shame the game is not going to be played but I doubt if OU or UGA lobbied for it to be cancelled.

Oklahoma would have screamed bloody murder. Your scenario would mean Oklahoma would play at Georgia with Georgia getting the revenue, and not having to play at Oklahoma, so Oklahoma would have lost a ton of revenue. I would understand perfectly why Oklahoma would not want that.

What in the hell are you talking about? The 23 game was to be in Norman not Georgia.

Trust me there would have been few extra tix for sale. If you seen our home schedule lately its been dogshit and fans here would have loved to have Georgia in town. Separate from why ot was canx, fans were looking forward to it. Last big OOC team we had in town was tOSU I believe. We had Nebby in 21 and UCLA in 18 and tOSU in 16. GA having come off 2 titles woild have been a great time.

There were but as Fiutak notes, Oklahoma’s repeat holds the dubious honor of only facing 4 teams in 2 years that finished with a winning record (including only 1 team in 1955 that had more than 4 wins)

Are you really trying to degrade OU in the prime of a 47 game winning streak pick another timeframe lol…. The average score during that timeframe was 35-6 defense was as dominant as ever .

He also failed to mention OU played atleast 3 ranked teams every season and both bowl games in 1955 1954 OU held both opponents to 6 total points .

Only an idiot thinks OU not completing a home and home OOC SERIES is REASONABLE.

You seem confused. Maybe you should direct your flames to your sooner counterpart.

Not confused with didn’t start or play any ooc game vs UGA …. To say we didn’t finish a game we didn’t play makes me think you are mental.

Your counterpart doesn’t understand how dumb his assertion is.

It’s impossible to complete the series before 2024 like Texas and bama are doing.

Y’all really really really really care about what other people say about Georgia don’t you? Your entire fanbase wreaks of insecurity.

Brah, you lost to Vandy. Stay in ur lane.

And it’s “reeks”. As in “The entire Gator fan base reeks of insecurity after losing to Vanderbilt.”

Pete Fiutak with an interesting nugget in light of all the hand wringing over our 2023 schedule: LINK

TLDR:
22 of the 30 teams UGA faced the past 2 seasons went bowling.

UGA 2021-2022: 22 of 30 (73%)

That interesting nugget is nothing more than a turd...

quote:

Oklahoma 1955-1956: 4 of 21 (19%)

In 1955 there were 6 bowl games, 1956 7 bowl games...

quote:

Nebraska 1994-1995: 12 of 25 (48%)

In 1994 19 bowl games, 1995 18 bowl games...

quote:

Bama 2011-2012: 16 of 27 (59%)

there were 35 bowl games in 2011 and 2012...

quote:

UGA 2021-2022: 22 of 30 (73%)

In 2021 there were 39 bowl games and 2022 42 bowl games...

Its not difficult to make it to a bowl game anymore...

That's cute...

So a team that UGA beat which ends up ranked after 13 weeks shouldn't count as a ranked win?

Looking at who was ranked at the end of the year gives a more accurate representation of strength of schedule. Unless you really believe Texas was the 9th best team in the nation in 2019..
