rain at gametime is no reason to cancel a game or move it to Baton Rouge. i mean you did say rain
A cat 3 storm has Gainesville in the cone of uncertainty, meaning it could pass 50-90 miles from the city. The rain on Saturday isnt the worry.

the whole moving to Baton Rouge thing.... I get it from a convenience standpoint...but from a travel standpoint...
If LSU could not fly into Ocala on Friday....How is
This.
I said this last night. You've got a team either coming or leaving the same place that is thought to be a threat. If LSU cant get in then Florida cant get out and if they get out when can they get back in. This isnt a flooding situation that doesnt affect the Columbia airport, this is widespread wind destruction. It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other as far as teams and fans coming and going no matter what team.
It might be moved but it wouldn't be to baton Rouge and honestly I cant see it being moved since you still have to get Florida's team, coaches, fans, etc back INTO said areas that may be without power, closed roads, unsafe power line situations, etc.
I gotta feeling this one may not be played folks and quite honestly thats the only answer to keep everybody safe. I wouldnt fly in if I were LSU cause you may not get out even if you play. Same for Florida. I would love to see this game but sometimes you gotta put welfare above all else. Either kill it or hope the thing takes another trajectory. Other than that, its not a 100% safe situation either way and you cant take that chance. We dont need another Marshall or LSU's players and fans holing up in some arena or convention center until roads are fixed and debris cleared not to mention feeding tens of thousands of people. Nor do we need Florida fans and players sequestered in BTR with family, etc still in affected area with no way to get to them.

You want them to leave on Thursday? Then why couldn't LSU leave on Thursday and just play the game Saturday night or Sunday in Gville.
The game should not be moved to Baton Rouge if it is going to be played.
This.

Who already has tickets to this game scheduled to be in Gainesville?
Who is planning to get tickets to this game if it is moved to baton rouge?
Simple answers to those questions will help in understanding some of the responses, desires, and "best solutions" being brought up the last few days.
Look at my location.. I live in New Orleans. I have ticket to the game in Gainesville. I'm going to the game regardless of where it's played. Driving either way.
Most on here do wish the best for all cities involved from a safety standpoint, but if you don't already have a ticket to a perennial big game.... then you have to admit that you are selfishly hoping that you can get a cheap seat to an extra home game.
I didn't have a ticket to LSU-USCe in Columbia but I took the opportunity to take my nephew to an LSU game at a cheap price for a conference foe.
I'm not being obtuse... just not seeing the need to move it to Baton Rouge. And if you already have a ticket to the game in gainesville and think it should move to BR.......then chime in

It was another hurricane then when the TN-LSU game was moved to Monday night. LSU was hellbent on playing that game in Baton Rouge even with the emergency crews being stretched across the state.

Agree, not to mention this would require the team to leave before the storm potentially makes landfall. That is unfair to the kids who may have families in the path and would prefer to be there to help out.

Probably the closest to feeling bad for winning a game I have ever felt.

DUMBASS thinking.....Totally different for FL to fly out early Friday vs. LSU to arrive later in the day on Friday WITH, unknown conditions involving safety.
Just DUMB.............

We leave to go away from hurricanes all the time. It is VERY different than travelling into one. They will probably be asked to evacuate anyway.

My dad and I are supposed to go but after the way they've played the past 2 games, I kinda don't want to go. Especially now with this storm coming. The drive to BR would be about the same for us either way and I wouldn't mind going for the experience in Death Valley. would LSU paint the gator head in the middle of the field for us?
