.@UF emergency operations team is set to discuss #HurricaneMatthew at noon and make recommendations to @PresidentFuchs via @TheAlligator
Expect a decision sometime this afternoon.
Gut feeling is the game is moved, either to BR or another location.

I seriously wonder what other location could even work. Takes time to get everything together at a "neutral site" like say Mobile. Also gotta get people to work the game and such.

After last year I'd say Baton Rouge if it's moved

More importantly team would have to travel before Friday I would think due to weather. Also how long does it take to pack an equipment truck??? And will the team even be able to get home after the game. They may have an extended stay in BR if the game is here.

the whole moving to Baton Rouge thing.... I get it from a convenience standpoint...but from a travel standpoint...
If LSU could not fly into Ocala on Friday....How is Florida supposed to fly out on Friday going to Baton Rouge?
You want them to leave on Thursday? Then why couldn't LSU leave on Thursday and just play the game Saturday night or Sunday in Gville.
The game should not be moved to Baton Rouge if it is going to be played.

Gotta think it's an ESPN 12 EST time slot. That might be driving a lot of "it has to be played then" talk. Otherwise might not be on tv, only streaming or something. Or end up on ESPN News or something like that.
Also, running a big risk trying to play it in Gainseville and just delay it till Saturday night. What if the hurricane slowed down even more? What if it completely ruins the field and it's unplayable due to safety?

You can't expect security and other resources to be pulled from a hurricane situation for a Football game. And electricity could be out ... Or maybe not but you don't have that issue in BR.
I'd love a weekend to watch the game on tv ... I need a rest lol but you've got to take safety into account first and foremost.

BR or another location.
If it is BR then expect like 45% attendance.

Then why couldn't LSU leave on Thursday and just play the game Saturday night or Sunday in Gville.
75% of your city will be without power for multiple days. There will debris everywhere. The fact you think a game could be played the day after is astounding

Simple. Florida leaving Thursday will be taking them away from the threat. LSU flying into a place that will likely get a cat 3 storm the next day isn't exactly smart

You do realize that Miami-FSU game is probably still going to be played... it's going to hit Miami prior to causing some stress to the Jacksonville coast area pushing wind and rain towards Gainesville.
That said... the weather will be clear in Miami and Gainesville on Saturday... There will be people all along the coast dealing with issues but if FSU-MIAMI still kickoff...then there is no excuse for LSU-UF not to play in Gainesville.
Gainesville is NOT going to take more of a hit than Miami.. and they haven't even decided what to do with the game in Miami... relax

Maybe the SEC needs to enact a policy for these situations going forward especially for SEC games that have to be played. You can always cancel non conference games.
In event of inclement weather that would put student athletes and fans for that matter in harms way the game will be relocated to the GA Dome (soon to be new stadium) if available, if not available the venue of the scheduled visiting team.
I don't see any other option because for neutral site games you would have to make sure that venue is available.

President Fuchs? Like, for real? Is his wife known affectionately as Mother Fuchs?

Miami is 330 miles south of Gainesville, they should not be compared

If the prediction stays as it is now, Gainesville is going to be hit pretty damn hard. It will take weeks for them to get back to normal.

Based off the projections that I have seen Gainesville will not be as impacted. On the edge of tropical storm winds and 1-3" of rain as of Sat 8am.

They should play it in Ladd Peebles in Mobile. The attendance will be low regardless of where they play the game. USA doesn't play this weekend. Not far from New Orleans, so some LSU fans can make it and there may be some Florida fans that come to Mobile to get away from the storm.
