It's going to be very interesting to see if Mett can live up to the hype. Hell, not even live up to the hype just be an above average QB. If he can give them consistent qb play then LSU could be a team that will not only smother your arse on defense but can also light up a scoreboard.

From an objective standpoint, LSU is stacked at all the skill positions so if Mett comes out and performs it could be pretty damn scary.

It always seems like chaos makes Miles thrive, to a point. I wonder which antics will rally the team this year. It's better and more successful to have an off the field drama (like rumors to Michigan or quarterback legal issues) than on the field chaos (like time management debacles or the Tennessee game a few years ago). When things calm down, it's like he loses his mojo.

This should be factored into their preseason ranking, IMO.

I doubt it... LSU will realize they are nowhere near as deep in talent as Bama... And they lost more irreplaceable talent than Bama.. not sure about their D.. Should be strong up front but losing brockers, Cooper, Taylor, Claiborne will be harder to replace than what Bama lost on D.. Even though Bama lost better players

This is incredible. Not only did you mention Bama will be better because they lost less talent, you somehow argued that Bama's talent they lost was better. My mind is blown.

I think Mett will be a big upgrade over what we have had the last few years. He certainly has a huge amount of pressure due to expectations but I feel like he is up to the task. Bama is always going to be Bama as long as Saban is coach and Arkansas is still going to be solid despite the loss of Petrino. I'm having serious withdrawals right now and the next three months are going to be hell.

(21-0) - (9-6) = 18

So Lsu only needs to make up 18 points, not an impossible feat by any stretch. And it's in Death Valley.

You're spot on there, still plenty of offseason left to have some chaos.

And if it indeed happens then LSU is my unanimous number 1.

You are right about that. Summer presents ample opportunities for these guys to get themselves in trouble.

I hope it's nothing too bad. The good and fun LSU fans don't need more high blood pressure.

Me too. I will start looking for Les Miles to the Cowboys rumors mid October.

Who really has more questions going into next year?

I can see why folks are picking LSU. I'm OK with that. Hard to argue against, and picking LSU 1 and Bama 3 is really just splitting hairs.

Biggest question marks for LSU:
- QB: there's a lot of faith being put into this guy. Maybe it's well placed, but I'm generally a "wait and see" kind of guy.
- Coaching: it seems every year LSU has a "miles moment." I personally felt like LSU last year was a team of destiny. I generally had a feeling we would lose that game in N/O. The BCSNCG was nothing if not a Miles Moment.

Biggest questions for Bama
Defense: will this team be better than the 2010 squad? More mature? Give up fewer big plays?
Mentality: How does this team respond to Saban's "we aren't defending anything" mantra?
Offense: The ONLY step back is at RB. But then again, we haven't had much trouble running the ball for 4 years. Lacy's health concerns me, and Fowler hasn't done much memorable so far. The rest of them? FNGs--haven't shown me anything on the field yet--exactly like LSU's vaunted QB. Outside of my only-slight concerns at RB, our offense should be the best it has been under Saban. We are stacked.

seems reasonable. our o will be much better because the worst players are gone and we have a great qb. you stack the box now and you pay. we will rush and pass much better and in turn our d will spend even less time on the field thanks to the new o. Anything but a national title is a failure this year.

LSU will be better on offense. Secondary will have a small drop but Tharold Simon will be a name to remember.

No one wants to argue about what % of offensive plays Miles will call? Pussies!

I kind of agree with the point that Bama fans make about losing Brockers and Claiborne. I know LSU still has defensive talent, but losing two first round picks isn't nothing. Brockers would have been excellent to keep because of the talent and depth he would have brought back.

Alabama is losing defenders, too, but they have coaching that will make their defense a top 5 defense. I see both LSU and Alabama being good again, as it always seems to be. I know we don't like Arkansas, but Alabama is LSU's undisputed top rival, especially after that mess last season, and it's only fitting that they're always top notch.
