I'll be shocked if Tennessee beats Ole Miss next year.

I think that's a little overstated. Let's hold out judgement until after new coach is hired, new staff in place, and NSD rolls around. A flop coach, crap staff, and worse than 40 recruiting class would obviously kill any we had. Good coach and staff with a mid 40s class would stall it. Good coach, good staff, and mid to lower 30s class will only slow it a bit. Next year was likely 7-6 or 6-7 anyway with the losses to graduation.

UT should get used to their LBers never tackling anyone.

Linebackers should be a strength next season. Johnson, Maggitt, Bates, Reeves-Maybin.

Johnson is probably the best tackler Tennessee has had in 7 years or so.

He's putting his future in the hands of this recruiting class. Talk that it will be 37 signees, 20+ being four star or higher.

He has a lot to prove on the field, but if this class pans out he will be in pretty good shape.

It's because Tennessee is irrelevant. No one even remembers Butch Jones exists. They are too busy worrying about the coaches of real programs: Saban, Spurrier, Bielema, etc.

the recruiting class he is putting together is really impressive, if he can get them to perform next year, he may be the coach for the long haul.

I think Butch and Stoops will turn out to be good hires. The SEC seems pretty set right now on coaches from top to bottom.

Only coaches I could see being on the hot seat next season would be Muschamp if they have another disaster of a season (unlikely), or Beliema if Arkansas goes winless again in the SEC and no real progress is shown.

Florida will bounce back (unfortunately) and Arkansas will struggle one more year, but they will improve on the third year of Bielema.

Jones beat Spurrier and didn't play Bert. That makes him 1-1 (when including Spurrier and Saban) which is not too shabby given our roster which atrocious doesn't begin to describe (at least for 2013) as well as being a first year. People forget we had WALK ONS! starting and other Walk-ons getting serious PT. And no returning WRs/TEs/QBs -- even combined the experience added up to zilch.

However, for anyone that watched Jones what was most impressive is that his rag-tag bunch of Dooley-contaminated-upperclassmen didn't quit. They played tough, hard nosed football. Talent wise and depth wise we just didn't have the horses but even when they were outmatched they played hard. Sometimes they ran out of steam (the depth issue again) but mostly they didn't.

We were warned early on by independent analysts not to judge Jones by the W/L column his first year and most of those same analysts predicted exactly what our W/L count would be.

Not saying he's destined to be the best (I do feel good about him tho') and there's absolutely no need to get all butthurt because there's a thread that ain't about BB. If he ever makes some noise he'll get his due without Arky fans needing to toot his horn.

And an Arky fan saying Tennessee is irrelevant is simply:

I won't be sure about that until I see some progress. At least Kentucky has a quality recruiting class coming in to show some progress there. We haven't really seen progress anywhere at Arkansas besides their running backs.

I was just saying if they have another year next season like this past season, that seat might be getting a little hot in year 3 considering the amount of money he is making.

If nothing else, they'll bounce back for our game -- even if they lost every game they'd play us lights out. Despite BB being a blowhard who doesn't yet have much to show for all his yammering, he did something right at Wiscy. And despite some of the Arky fans talking smack for no discernible reason, I do think BB can improve things if he focuses more on his own team and instills a better discipline/work ethic.

The future is bright for our Vols even if the near term isn't as bright as we'd like.

Butch Jones seems pretty solid. I hope he's successful. UT needs to come back. He needs to get a QB. You can't win in this league without a QB.

I think Butch will get it done, too much talent coming in not to.

And regardless Arkansas, they will improve because there is no way to get any lower than 0-8. (sorry).
