I really hope I'm mistaken here. Is an Arky fan insulting someone else's coach?

Do you see what your stupid comment has made me do? Your stupidity was so great that I had to defend a UT coach. Do you offer any redeeming qualities?

Meh, UT got worse under him. One of those "recruiters"...all hat, no cattle.

I suspect they will have another coach in 3-4 years.

Butch Jones seems pretty solid. I hope he's successful. UT needs to come back. He needs to get a QB. You can't win in this league without a QB.

Agree 1000% about having to have a QB but at the same time my confidence regarding our QB situation only grows. Dobbs was a true frosh and looked about 12 years old when he was forced to play Bama, Mizzou and Aubie. During Vandy, he was injured and our only WR who could catch the damn ball went out on the first series. UK though he played lights out -- not just because they were Kentucky. He started fitting balls into windows where the WRs were covered up that were drool worthy no matter if you're great CFB or a great NFL QB. Jason Croom also decided to start getting open and holding on to catches (unfortunately he got injured just as he looked like he was finally having his break out game). We also finally got Devrin Young back for that game as a WR and he'd been injured since prior to the Oregon game though we started working him in on returns much earlier. All of that made one hell of a difference. Dobbs never did get a break-in game like most QBs regardless of year and despite being inconsistent (the calling card of any true frosh) he progressed rapidly when he finally had WRs who didn't drop the ball.

He's also been training with Quincy Avery and George Whitfield. George Whitfield is called the "Quarterback Whisperer" for good reason. He mentored Manziel (the summer before his breakout and Heisman and is credited with really doing a lot for Manziel), Tajh Boyd, Mizzou's James Franklin, Aaron Murray, Braxton Miller, and Bryce Petty. He also trained/mentored Andree Luck and Cam Newton in preparation for their respective drafts (both were drafted as #1 overall picks). He also prepared Donovan McNabb for free agency.

Luck and Newton swear by him. LINK

Manziel is training yet again with Whitfield in order to prepare for the combine/draft. LINK /

Avery is still considered a QB guru but less acclaimed. He mentors the elite 11 and I think he works with Whitfield as well.

Dobbs is already looking more and more like a man. He no longer looks like the kid y'all played or the kid pressed into service against Bama. He's gained 20+ pounds and some of the footwork he showed off is nothing short of amazing.

All college QBs make their biggest leaps between their 1st year (RS or no RS) and their 2nd year. And I expect that Dobbs and probably Ferguson too will be miles better. But the thing is even if we played Peterman who was fricking horrid against UF we'd still see a better QB. Both Worley and Peterman were criminally neglected by prior staff, imo. We also have experience and outrageous talent on campus at WR and TE and neither was present last year and a lot of the inexperienced freshmen who played WR will finally have that much needed experience.

IOW, my fear is at D-Line. I think we'll be fine at QB despite the question marks and near suicide watch Vol Nation likes to stay on even when talent is staring them in the face but analyzing potential rather than reveling is wins and losses isn't something a lot of fans do. They'd rather celebrate or climb into a hole while declaring the apocalypse. However, WRs and TEs can make even a bad QB look like Manning but I don't think we even have to worry about having a bad one just one who despite some experience is still green.

At worst, we get a serviceable QB in Worley who can be bailed out by talent unlike last year.

No we didn't.

W/L wise it was the same. Upset wise and play wise it was better despite us not being thrilled with the season outcome. It was what was expected + an upset of So Car.

41-18 and 14-10 disagree. And no, the swap of homefield isn't worth THAT much because the 41-18 was even worse than the score shows.

It's Tennessee. They will be a dumpster fire until they make a Nick Saban-caliber hire. Plus now you have Vanderbilt to compete with for in-state recruits, assuming Vandy can maintain its momentum. The state of Tennessee is the new Mississippi of football: no great football program to speak of.

Thanks for those bandwidth-wasting words of wisdom. You don't mind if I bookmark this for mocking purposes in a couple of years, do you?

He'll have to do a hell of a lot more to get folks to talking about him. He seems to be able to recruit but let's see if he can get the vols back to being competitive in the east again.

I think the reason everyone is quiet is because he hasn't done anything yet. Good recruiter, well yes he has proven that he can do that. Ron Zook also proved he was a heck of a recruiter. The book is going to be out until the results are seen on the field. I think with the talent he has coming in and if he continues to recruit at a high level then UT will certainly be competitive.

And an Arky fan saying Tennessee is irrelevant is simply:
But it's true, Tennessee has been overshadowed by the Mississippi schools for five or six consecutive years. Hell, even Vandy > Tennessee the last three years.

Tennessee has no presence in the minds of SEC fans, so no one talks about Butch Jones.

Glad to know you prefer being laughed at for abject and complete failure than being forgotten.
