What I'm asking is how much more of a contender will they be? Is it the difference between finishing 5th or 4th in the west?

Who's been a West contender this year? I'll say Ark, Aub, Bama, and LSU. One of those teams is finishing 4th unless you want to call it a 3-way tie for 2nd.

What I mean is... 6 teams in the west, and MSU is usually 5th or 6th at the end. If they are improved, they most likely still won't finish ahead of LSU, Auburn, Alabama, or Arkansas each year.

Just trying to gauge how much their improvement will really affect the face of the SEC west, especially if Ole Miss is dipping down to take their former place.

I don;'t like to play IF's but you do realize if we would have beat you last year we would have finished 2nd in the West?

Yes. I simply think that on average, even if MSU is improved, they still don't finish ahead of LSU, Alabama, or Auburn. Not because they still aren't good, but because those are usually three elite to great teams.

ETA: you guys get a good QB recruit and I might change my tune.

I think Corch Urban Meyers in going to retire.
LEt me explain something to you guys. People like Urban don't tuck their tail and run at the first sign of adversity. They take it as a challenge and they man up show some pride and prove they can get everything back to the way its suppose to be. Its not a fluke Fla won 2 national titles in the last 4 years. Urban is healthy and he is the ultimate competiter, he feeds off people doubting him and he will be successful at Fla for a long time.

I don't think anyone is saying that we will make noise for the West this season. But to completely count us out in the future is very shortsighted. We have made it to Atlanta before..... I know it was just once, but other than Bama nobody in the West has more than 4 appearances (LSU) (3 for Ark & AU)
Mullen is doing good things in Starkville, and if he sticks around could make a run at the West on a year where most teams end up with 1 or 2 conference losses

Yea i think i just jumped the gun and assumed that this talk was about this year and not what is to come. I think MSU is rapidly improving and look forward to some more slobber knockers in the future.

They don't have a good QB this season from what I've seen.

Typical Alabama arrogance. You don't know that. LSU had a National Championship a couple of years ago with 2 losses.

True. And because it's true, let's do our best to downplay it and give them no reason to get real momentum. We don't need ANOTHER real freaking team in the west.

Actually we already have one National Championship back in 1941. We had a better record and beat Bama but they still claimed the Championship. (Cheaters) Just sayin.

Exactly. Our WRs suck but we've been playing much better since the Vandy debacle. We played Bama pretty tough in BDS and put up 40+ on 2 solid teams (Fresno and UK).

The OP is a giant turd that doesn't know football.

First of all, you are an idiot. Second, thanks for showing everyone once again that you are an idiot. Third, UK and Fresno have defenses akin to a decent pop warner team. Fourth, OLE MISS LOST AT HOME TO JACKSONVILLE STATE AND VANDY (BY TWO TDs). Fifth, Masoli has zero touch on a football, one of the reasons for the drops. Sixth, your receivers cannot catch when he does throw it right...more evidence that Ole Miss is a horrible football team. Seventh, it is nice that you are now taking solice in moral victories for not getting completely skulldrug by Bama after having two weeks to prepare. Eighth, Masoli was a darkhorse Heisman candidate last year at Oregon, leading them to the Rose Bowl...at Ole Miss he has led them to a losses against JACKSONVILLE STATE and VANDY...experiment failed.

Ole Miss has a horrid football team, the Masoli experiment has been a failure and they are pretty much a laughing stock across the country for everything and everyone to the right of Moveon.org and Code Pink (pretty much everything).

I'm pretty sure everyone on the 'left' thinks of Ole Miss as a laughing stock too.

I know the Dogs are a bit away from contending, but they sure have been impressive so far. Congrats to them.

Does Masoli play defense? He's been solid for us as our starting QB, which he didn't do vs. Jax St. We need a mobile QB considering how young our OL is.

Have you watched any of our games and seen how our WRs drop easy TDs and do nothing to help him out? I bet you haven't.

We are in better place now that we were in the beginning of the season, but I get it - you hate OM. It's very clear

You just entered the toughest part of you schedule. You have to go to Arkansas and LSU, and play Auburn and Mississippi State at home. I dont think you guys are any better off now than you were at the start of the season.
