like what Mullen is doing and I see definite improvement, but I'll wait for them to play a few more SEC teams before I declare them a new western contender.

I am not saying they are a contender, by noise I am saying that they could potentially give teams like Arky and Bama a tough game which could impact the SEC West...particularly Bama since Arky is essentially eliminated from West contention now (much like State with losses to AU and LSU).

No matter how you slice it, what Mullen is doing in Starkvegas is pretty damn impressive. I am not too sure any coach in the SEC outside of Saban could do any better given the circumstances and history.

Why would Miami come after a 5-19 coach?

MSU has always been a tough game for some SEC teams. Consistenty decent defense (great this year) and good running game. The way to beat them is usually to force the QB to throw... But they haven't been a pushover most of the time even during Croom's worst years.

Glad to see that we have convinced you that we have a good program at Mississippi State. Early in the season around the LSU game you didnt seem to think much of us and didnt think we would have a winning season this year.

Yep, you have proven me wrong. When LSU beat State, I didn't think too much of LSU as a team (still am very skeptical...cautiously optimistic). I watched the AU game in person, on the sideline. Was not that impressed at the time. However, after seeing what AU has become, plus with wins over UGA and UF in the Swamp, I have seen the error of my ways in my judgement of the Dogs.

Sidenote: Mullen to UF is a real possibility after this season. I think Corch Urban Meyers in going to retire.

I really dont see Miami firing Randy Shannon, especially if he wins 9 or 10 games this year which I think he will.

NO WAY POSSIBLE Miami has the $$$$ to get Chiz from Auburn.

Agreed. Despite the fact that I'll root heavily against them when we play in 2011, the long-suffering Dawg fans deserve some happiness.

goes to Eugene.

I would not have a problem with that.

My point is that they need to beat someone in the sec west before we start gushing about them being a real threat in the sec west.

I don't think we're west contenders yet. I was skeptical about winning 6 games this year. We still need one more but I like our chances now to go out there and compete.

I really think we have a good chance of winning 8 games thie year.

5-2 now and I think we will beat UAB, Kentucky both at home, and Ole Miss in Oxford.

I meant Gus Mulzahn, and the Miami folks are in mutiny over Shannon. Now miami legends are being vocal about their disappointment.

Im not trying to slight MSU, and its clear they're on the way up, but they still need to start beating the other west teams before they can make any real noise.

I don't think anyone is saying that we will make noise for the West this season. But to completely count us out in the future is very shortsighted. We have made it to Atlanta before..... I know it was just once, but other than Bama nobody in the West has more than 4 appearances (LSU) (3 for Ark & AU)
Mullen is doing good things in Starkville, and if he sticks around could make a run at the West on a year where most teams end up with 1 or 2 conference losses

Yeah mad props to Dan Mullen and the 2010 MSU team. Just as worried about Starkville as I am Columbia. :(

Of Croom's 5 years as HC, our offense was 11th or 12th in the SEC every year he was there.

Mullen has our offense energized and our defense is vastly improved under DC Manny Diaz.

They didn't give LSU trouble, but I remember some close scares. What I'm asking is how much more of a contender will they be? Is it the difference between finishing 5th or 4th in the west?

Yeah...Masoli hasn't been the problem. He's helped us more than what Stanley would have at this point....due to how shitty our Oline is. Our WRs just need to step up and help Masoli.

Exactly. Our WRs suck but we've been playing much better since the Vandy debacle. We played Bama pretty tough in BDS and put up 40+ on 2 solid teams (Fresno and UK).

The OP is a giant turd that doesn't know football.
