Good luck. I live in Tennessee now, and no one cares about football here because the Vols are down. I'll be pulling for you, but I don't want you to get back to national prominence anytime soon. Then, suddenly all of the Vols fans will be unbearable, kind of like Bama fans after '09 and Auburn fans after '10.

I don't think Spurrier is in the same league with Spurrier anymore.

Chiz knows how to manage ...so far. This year will be a good indication of what he's made of. Good Luck to him.

I wasn't totally sold on Miles until last year.

I don't think he is as talented X's and O's guy as Saban or Spurrier, but time will tell. We have all knocked Miles for the last few years, but he keeps winning. In the end, your record defines your success.

Don't forget, he was the DC for back-to-back perfect seasons at AU then Texas. He is really good with x's and o's on defense. I don't think Saban is an offensive whiz or Spurrier a defensive mastermind.

All I know is that he has done everything exactly as it's needed to be done from day 1.

My exact statement. I dont give one rats arse how bad Iowa St. was. He has been spot on since he got off the plane.

He has hired good people, recruited well, kept the team grounded, not made any big mistakes and carries himself well.

I am not sure we could have asked for more.

Spurrier??? he won a national title in '96. What has he done since then? He won the east last year because no one else wanted it.

'96. What has he done since then?

10 bowl games in 11 college seasons (3 BCS)

6 9+ win seasons since 1996

flame out like Coker did at Miami

Iteresting you should use Coker as a comparison because Miles actually mimics Coker's career at Miami at this point. One difference is Coker took Miami to two NC games. In fact records are similar after 6 seasons.
Coker 60-15
Miles 62-17

Good flame attempt though.

if you look at it terms of total record, there are similarities. If you look at in terms of trends, not so much. Coker's teams only got worse while he was there. His losses, in chronological order, are as follows: 0, 1, 2, 3, 3, 6

More like the SEC's Dennis Erickson with the blatant cheating and recruitment of thuggish players.

Well said TCU---

A monkey can be a winning coach if he just keeps his mouth shut and lets the BoT/boosters buy him the best players money can buy. However, would a monkey would know to say:

"I want my contract changed. I want to get paid even after the NCAA drops the hammer."

A monkey wouldn't be that smart, but then again, even a monkey can hire an agent who can see the writing on the wall.

He actually won't get paid if you read the whole contract

These gems are all in the first page of your post history.

I was wondering if there was a monthly limit on how much the aubie players could get paid. I mean, how do you limit it? Apparently there is a limit or else those guys wouldn't have had to pull an Armed Robbery....

Mr. Dirty is in the big league now. He's playing with folks certainly more physical than he and equally as mean . He's got some retribution coming. Many of his cheap shots in college were on people who have NFL friends. What goes around, comes around. The foot may not be the last thing that gets broken. Defensive linemen have very exposed knees.

quote:

Point was it's early in the football season, and the post was alluding to prior police calls up in Thugsta'ville. Maybe a guy gets hurt. Freak accidental ACL or something, but to get 'beat up' this early on a team already low on personnel? Nah, I call BS. ...

It's so hot here in the South that people are visiting the *barn coaching staff just to stand next to something shady.

quote:

The piece (so to speak) is wriiten from a UT girl's point of view. One needs to know if the pressure on Tigerettes has been increased with the arrival of this new coaching bunch. Everybody uses hostesses, but "How they use them is the question?"

It could be that awbrins had always used their girls in an 'extreme' manner, but I doubt it. Their recruitment has improved exponentially and it seems *U has always used the money angle. Maybe money wasn't enough? So why are they now a top recruiter nationally? Is it a 5-19 coerch? OR, could they have escalated the use of girls as a new addition to their recruiting tactics.

A bunch of those boys did change their minds inexplicably at the last minute. Getting word from a coach mentioning how a recruit is very important to the sucess of the team should be enough to persuade the girl to do anything it takes to enamor a kid. The coach could leave it up to the fambly loyalty of the girl and thus stay 'clean'. The Tigerettes monetary pay is likely legit for steno work, etc. in case somebody wants to look into it.
