Stanford. SEC Style play and getting better players.

They could get nasty.

saban might have found it for this year and if anyone can find it for a 3peat it would be him.

So you are saying if they don't 3 peat it's a fail?

No I am saying if Saban doesn't have them in contention all the way to the end it will be a fail...

I think UGA was better than everybody except Bama this year, but I wouldn't say SC was. Next year will be interesting to see how things shake out. Looks like the winner of A&M and Bama game will more than likely be in control of the west. But you never know in this league

On a related note, the answer is the SEC.

This is the correct answer. I could easily seeing something like this happening, but I don't think LSU will have the guns to be an elite team next year.

I dont see how you can call it a first class fail though since his team has won 3 out of 4. Any team that does that is likely to have a motivation problem at some point. It takes an amazing job to go back to back and not just rest on hey we won a title.

I disagree...I believe, as the above poster mentioned, he has figured out how to keep his team motivated.

But maybe first class fail was a bit harsh...I will be surprised if they aren't right there though...What he has done is crazy...I hate Alabama..

This has nothing to do with LSU, why do you Arkansas posters keep throwing LSU into the conversation? No one in this thread has said that LSU would knock off Bama, but don't be shocked when they go 1-1 vs them and A&M next year

Don't see how they won't be right in the thick of things next year.

and there's all these unknowns:

- Bret Bielema
- Ole Miss progress (they got better as the year went on)
- Gus Malzahn
- Mark Stoops
- Missouri's injury situation
- SEC Defensive adjustments to JFF
- LSU's reload

its a whole different year though and a different animal going after the 3peat. I will be surprised though if they aren't in it up until the very end but i dont think it will be a fail.

Stanford really needs to get some play-makers at their skill positions. It is really tough to beat elite defenses when your best play-maker is a tight end. We saw how that worked with ND.

I am interested in seeing if he can get the same focus out of them next year as he did this year.

in 04 at LSU following his title his team had no life that year. in 2010 following his title it seemed bama as a bit off that year as well. This year though they were on the money from the start.
He had 9 Seniors on this team total this year. IMO, he'll have better leadership next season with a youngish group that has been together for a while. Who knows how that translates to the product on the field though?

Like he said last night, every team is different and has a different identity. We lost a lot of quality players after the '11 season - we had a lot of injuries this year (I hated to see Jalston Fowler go down, and Dee Hart.) Many folks had to step into different roles on the team and contribute a lot to the success of the team.

I think ole miss will be even better next year, hell they gave us all we wanted this year. I think it comes down to Bama and A&M in the west but I think the kicker is LSU once again. I think they beat one of the two of them. We might lose 2 or 3 games but probably win one of those two.

I actually agree with you on something, I just don't think Stanford can compete because lack of skilled playmakers

Actually, TeLeFaWx mentioned it in part of his post that I was replying to. No need to get all upset when another fan mentions LSU.

I'm not too worried, he's had them in the discussion for championships for damn near 5 years now. Bama may not make it to a 3 peat, and that's fine with me. But, he also won't field a team that gets man-handled by their biggest rivals all season long either.

He said that they all three go 1-1 vs each other. That's not a far fetched statement is it? That's exactly what happened this year between the three. How does that statement mean that anyone thinks LSU will be elite? I think we probably lose two or three games next year and still go 1-1 against those two teams. That by no means is elite to me

Ohio State - Urban is arguably the best recruiter in the country and has won 2 championships.
Ohio St. if Meyer can recruit defensive talent from the SEC and Oregon I would like to see an elite SEC team match up with them.

But it didn't go to well for Oregon last year when they played LSU....
