urban will have some more chest pains if he goes up against saban. If urban gets lucky and another sec team is in the bcs game then maybe he wins but not against saban

I agree with this. The month off, while negative for most coaches, seems to be a strength for Saban. He never loses his first game of the year and has only lost one post season game while at Bama and that was an extreme exception. I have to give credit where it is due. If a Saban coached team makes it to the big game, he won't lose...IMO.

I'm sorry but I'm not buying the A&M is better than Bama stuff. They are good, but that's going a little far

I said this after we won in T-Town and it's still true. Bama is a more talented, better coached team--right now. We'll find out on Sept. 14.

Saban said we were 5 yds from Georgia being here. He said "in OUR league". We have to get a lot better. Saban has lifted the bar again. He's the Tiger Woods ofCFB coaching lifting everybody's play if they want to compete. The SEC will dominate for atleast another 5yrs.

The last 2 game plans in the national title have been flawless. they go for the throat early and its worked both times.

Stanford seems to be creeping into this conversation.

Nick's takin TWO (2) days off and then his focus will be on getting his team better and prepared for next season.

He is a crazy arse machine - workaholic to the core.

And that's not a knock on you guys, I just don't see it. With the good coach y'all have I think you can compete with anyone year in and year out, but just not better than Bama right now. No one is

I am interested in seeing if he can get the same focus out of them next year as he did this year.

in 04 at LSU following his title his team had no life that year. in 2010 following his title it seemed bama as a bit off that year as well. This year though they were on the money from the start.

I would put Texas and Florida State in the conversation but I don't think they currently have the coaching to come close to competing with the big boys.

Then you're clearly a moron.

On a related note, the answer is the SEC.

A&M, LSU and Alabama could all go 1-1 against eachother.

Oregon could go undefeated.

Ohio State could go undefeated.

The SEC gap

The gap is huge. And it's not just Alabama who is elite.

This can also be said about the internal SEC gap.

Urban Myer and Ohio State will end the streak eventually. He is the only coach that has proven he can beat the top teams in the SEC.

nope

"bad heart" Saban made him quit, now he can't coach 363 days a year anymore

remember?

IMO...it will be a first class fail if he doesn't...after all this was supposed to be his rebuilding year. Next year they have a ton coming back and the schedule looks favorable...

Ohio State
Oregon
Notre Dame
Stanford
Florida State

ETA: That is in terms of potential of course. I suppose Oklahoma should pretty much always be in the conversation, based on recruiting potential.

The best bet for next year is Oregon.

Totally agree. I didn't take it as a knock. I knew what you meant. Bama is huge, fast, and sick, and returning the two-time national championship winning QB. Can't argue with that. Bama is better than everybody. Hell, Georgia and SC are better than everybody...except Bama.

Kirby Smart said Saban had been focusing a lot on getting the players to improve their mental approach to the game. I think he's finally figured out how to keep slumps like that from happening.

In addition to adding Meyer Ohio State has enjoyed a recruiting windfall thanks to the Sandusky scandal in neighboring Pennsylvania

I dont see how you can call it a first class fail though since his team has won 3 out of 4. Any team that does that is likely to have a motivation problem at some point. It takes an amazing job to go back to back and not just rest on hey we won a title.
