Freeze has had our program going in the right direction since he took over. Every year has been progressively moving forward. He has recruited at a high level. His first dynamite class are in their last year in Oxford.
We feel like we have lots of experienced playmakers on defense. Nkemdichie is disruptive inside and we have some dynamic pass rushers and finally some depth to match up with anyone up front. We feel like our DB's are a real strength of the team. 2 4 year starters at Saftey, a 3 year late first round pick at Husky and 2 corners we feel great about. Our line backing core is a question but with the talent surrounding them we feel they are serviceable.
The real reason for confidence is the offense. Bo Wallace was a program changing QB for us. He bridged the gap from Nutt to the talent Freeze has brought in. We are 6 or 7 deep at WR that we feel great about. We feel the O line is as good as it has been under Freeze and we finally feel like we have the QB that can really make the offense go. Bo had a notiable problem with arm strength. He literally couldn't throw the deep ball. Kelly throws it extremely well along with making great decisions. We feel that we can finally take the top off the defense and get the Safteys out of the box to run the ball effectively enough to keep Kelly on his feet.
It's amazing how fast he has picked up the playbook. To us he is a QB with all the tools from a QB family that is the perfect guy for the system. Some of the throws he has made the last 2 weeks blew my mind.
We feel we finally have a dominate defense and an explosive offense. Yes it has been against scrubs but it's scary how many questions we answered about our team the last 2 weeks.
Here's to a great game Saturday and Hotty Toddy.
I understand you're geeked up about the offense, but Alabama's Front 7 is gonna make you more humble than a Camel Clutch from the Iron Sheik. You made mention of your OL being amazing, but your best player is still not going to suit up and an ongoing NCAA Investigation-one that ironically began heating up the same year the "first dynamite class," signed with Ole Miss.
Long and the short of it is that Kelly is great versus scrubs who don't generate pass-rush pressure and zero pressure in general from an opponent who doesn't push him. But Alabama is going to be the biggest challenge of his entire career and he's never played a conference game before.
On top of that, he's got to do it on the road.
Make no mistake, Bama's offense is down, but your offense is going to be humbled Saturday, baw. Get ready for the we told you so's.

How are you better without Tunsil? Who else do you have on the OL?

Ole Miss has the highest combined score within 2 games since 1968.
It's this false sense of security that's going to lead to one of the biggest melts in history tomorrow night. There are probably fifteen or twenty teams in the country this year that can name the score against patsies. This is because after the score starts reaching an insurmountable level, patsies will roll over and play dead. Most coaches will then call off the dogs in order to avoid embarrassing their beaten opponent.

This is precisely what happened. It could have been MUCH worse in both instances.

Nothing has convinced me that Ole Miss is vastly different than the team that got destroyed in Atlanta 9 months ago.
And no, not even scoring 70 on two high school teams has changed that.

Ole Miss hasnt won a road game of this magnitude in the lifetime of any regular poster here.
They beat #4 Florida in Gainesville in 2008.

Ole Miss is exactly the type of school the NCAA makes an example out of. UNC, Miami...."
Truer words have not been spoken. NCAA drags its feet on these type of "investigations" leaving the non favored schools hanging in the wind.
I'm not optimistic about a speedy resolution for Tunsil.

2 four year starters at safety? Didn't Cody Prewitt start?
He did. Mike Hilton started all 4 years at Husky, CB last year and now Saftey. He has started all 4 years just not in one spot.

Javon Patterson and Rod Taylor are 10x better than A. Morris and J. Bell at Guard. Conyers is now at C when he was a backup T last year and has thrived in that roll. Our starters on the inside last year are now our 6th and 7th lineman.

You don't hang 70 points on somebody by going easy on them. Sometimes "calling off the dogs" requires more than putting in the backups.

My best friends' sister played against Hugh Freeze's girls bball team in high school. He was telling me a story the other day about one of their games. Briarcrest had recruited a starting team of a bunch of enormous black girls. His sister went to Hutchison. They were comically bad. Briarcrest was up something like 70-10 at halftime, and that't not even an exaggeration. Freeze took out the starters, Hutchison went on a 15-10 run. Freeze puts back in the starters for the rest of the game, and Briarcrest won around 130-30. And let me repeat, this was a girls high school game.

My cousin's ex wife's niece played in that game and calls your story bull shite.

Some of you guys go so overboard. Some of you are the perfect message board paper tigers. To ask why Ole Miss is so confident is a bunch of crap. Most rational Ole Miss fans, and that's the vast majority of the fanbase in my estimation, feel good about this team. That does not mean we think we'll walk into Bama and blow their doors off. Sure we think we have a chance. But that's less than a 50% chance for sure and most rational Ole Miss fans feel the same. Please don't judge the entire fanbase on a few overzealous, misguided goofballs.

Preaching to the choir
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about tomorrow night. You guys have got a good football team, maybe even great. I just think the sample we've seen so far is inconclusive just like it is for Bama. Alabama will be the best team y'all have played so far by a wide margin and I believe the same holds true for us playing Ole Miss. The jury is still out on Wisconsin as far as I'm concerned.

You're still Ole Miss and that will never change. Your program will never transcend its legacy. Even a blind squirrel gets a nut every now and then. Here's to your patented midseason collapse.
