to summarize

Ole Miss fans led by WRT agree:
Hootie was at a great recruiting disadvantage at Arkansas
Hootie was hated on by all the haters and his full potential at Arkansas was not realized because of us fans
Ole Miss has more tradition and has been in the SEC longer than Arkansas
Hootie just could not have complete control of his team at Arkansas

So none of these can and should be used for your support of Hootie when he walks away again this season with no outright SEC championship nor a bcs bowl.... right webels? you can not use any of those excuses?

He's charismatic. He motivates the players.

I don't hate Hootie and these are a couple of his good qualities.

After the '04 and '05 seasons, he was given another chance by hiring an offensive coordinator to call plays. He essentially thumbed his nose at the idea and his chance. When Malzahn started getting credit for any successes, Nutt couldn't handle it. His ego craves attention and it is quite fragile.

Who wants a coach that believes their "potential" for recruiting and winning isn't up to par? Hootie needs to be some place where the so-called lack of "potential" doesn't get in his way. Maybe that's at Ole Miss.

The point where Hootie's "potential" for success ends is where Petrino's picks up momentum and keeps going.

No, I don't give a shite about his actions at his former school. Ole Miss is his second chance. So long as he doesn't do some of the things he did at Arkansas while in Oxford, I won't ever listen to that shite because it DOES NOT MATTER ONE GOD DAMNED BIT.

Of course you don't care what happened before...until you see it firsthand (as you even went so far to admit).

The truth in your words is having Nutt on board is not a second chance for him, but a first chance for you! Ole Miss hasn't seen a Top 10 ranking since November 1970. I would venture a guess this is the pinnacle for your Ole Miss Football life simply based upon age.

Soak it all in while you can. Enjoy it...like we did in 1998. But when ONE BIG mistake is made by your QB, ripping the heart out of him, you and Nutt in the process, start taking mental inventory of how things change. If you choose to ignore the signs, you'll certainly miss them. But if you pay attention, you'll see what we saw coming.

In coach's defense on that one, you either sink or swim with what you are comfortable with. I find it sickening when a HC is asked to fire a whole set of assistants to save his job.

Arkansas fans hate Nutt for good, solid reasons.

Ole Miss fans have no reason to hate Nutt.

These two realities can coexist.

I don't think he was asked or had to fire anyone, though Nutt did frequently fire coaches for various reasons. He did not have an offensive coordinator and really didn't want one from what I understand.. He probably should have just been fired after the '05 season.

...but had that happened, we probably wouldn't have gotten Petrino...and Ole Miss wouldn't have gotten Nutt. I think both are happy with their new coaches.

DeuceisLoose I think there is an obsession with him over the fact that he's been by far the most successful, entertaining and enthusiastic SEC coach Arkansas has had in it's short 18 year period in the SEC. When the fanbase went to all the crazy tactics to run him off they had no idea a divisional rival (with better historical SEC win %) would hire him. They thought he'd go to the sunbelt or something. It baffles me that people will say "he led the band, what an embarrasing dork" I don't understand that theory at all. Arkansas has a weak recruiting base and needs entangibles like that to help stay more competitive.

I also think if they were 100% happy in how things were going within their program now they would have no reason to diss him all the time on all the forums. The fact is, they know that on paper, recordwise, they got the best coach available to replace him and if they've been following the goings on this fall and couple that with last year, they know there seems to be serious effort issues in the defensive play. Effort was and is something Nutt is good at getting out of players particlarly african american players. Arkansas fans are also frustrated that everyone thinks their coach will leave if he ever has a winning year and logically thinking, he probabaly would.

I also think they are angry that he is recruiting some good players out of their state. Players they would of had , had he still been there. I think they are upset their 5 star recruit Michael Dyer is calling out Petrino publicly for not attempting to form a bond with him. Well, with Nutt he's getting that bond.

I also think they are angry b/c their "case" if you will, against Nutt was built in large part over a quarterback and offensive philosphy that both turned out to be a total busts 3 years later. Arkansas fans thought they built their house on a rock, but come to find out it was built on sand. It's a quick sand that is slowly sinking their house.

Right now I don't think it's as much of a hate as it is a frustration that nothing is going right on the hill and it may not for several years. If their last basketball coach STan heath went to Ole Miss, I doubt you'd hear a peep.

haha Please elaborate on how that offensive philosophy turned out to be a total bust.

Seems to me that the three years Malzahn has been in college, every year his offense has been at or near the top of them all.

and that is why Nutt remained in the league so he could show us all how stupid and dumb we are. Well it was not only Nutt who was ran off it was the whole posse. Broyles, Nutt and John White are all gone as they should be. I am soooo glad we do not have to deal with Houston Nutt and his idiotic comments no more. If Petrino does as well as Nutt then overall it was an upgrade. Two different coaches and two different backgrounds -- Petrino is going after bigger taller athletes while Nutt loves those that are yes men and buy into his system. Houston Nutt is a hella of motivator and a solid average SEC coach but he built up all that hype around him to soldify himself as the Razorback coach for life. Well that did not and will not happen so he tried to destroy and downgrade the whole thing on the way out the door. This just shows you how classy this trailer park trashed millionaire thinks. When he first came to Arkansas he was a young unknown WAC coach looking for an opportunity and became over time an egotistical babbling buffoon who could not control his own paranoid emotions and this is what got him out the door and not US fans running him off.

and oh wildrebel time 700 (sold out) people will be at the LRTDC to hear Petrino speak tomorrow. Do you think they would do that if Nutt was still here?

You and Tim Brando are the only two people in the universe who believe this.

Hell, most Ole Miss fans don't even believe this.

Whats funny is your slavish devotion to slurping Houston Dale's penis.
