You're right, that was more of personal theory than scientific.

True, but the tide has turned very quickly on gay rights. In 20 years, it'll be about as strange as a black guy in baseball in 64.
Very true. By coming out, he's essentially destroying the newsworthiness of future players coming out, which is a good thing for everyone. I doubt most gay people really want to be the focus of attention just because they're open about who they are. I'd guess Michael Sam would like to just be who he is and not make a big deal of it, but the way football culture is right now, that's not possible.

As more NFL football players come out, it will rapidly become a non-issue.

Do you have viable proof that they don't have a choice? I don't say either way, but to act like you absolutely know it isn't a choice is absurd.

It boggles my mind that anyone cares.
I'm not judging either side of the issue; I just couldn't care less to whom someone else is attracted.

It takes a special type of person to be that open with the world. Without a doubt.

I responded based on the way that I understood your comment, if I was wrong my sincerest condolences.

To condemn people for 'choosing' homosexuality one has to first deduct that is was a choice.

To introduce doubt is to stop the ability to bash gay people based on their 'choice', correct?

Why not both? Why can't someone be born thinking one way, and someone chooses later to be that way?

Who the frick cares. They are who they are. They're still people and deserve our respect, same as anybody else. This is being blown way out of proportion.

I don't think people choose who/what they are attracted to, acting on that attraction is a choice.

I'm attracted to women, I choose to have sex with them.

I don't care or not if it's a choice, I think what they do is disgusting. Any more confusion?

What upsets me is how many men don't understand that they are motivated by the 'manliness' of an activity.

The gender-policing in males is strong. Nobody wants to be called a sissy, nobody wants to play like a girl, nobody wants that kind of stigma.

I just wish men understood that nobody else can define masculinity for them.

And the irony is that by defining masculinity as seeking and having sex with women, men are actually DISEMPOWERING themselves because their ability to confirm their masculinity is dependent on the decision of a woman to allow them to have sex with her.

Which, on the whole, is why I think women are getting the upper hand in this society, socially.

They are not dependent on men to validate anything about themselves, which makes them free in a way that men are not.....

If men freed themselves from the notion that pursuit of sex with women defines masculinity, then they would be in a much better position power-wise, vis-a-vis women.

Let's be honest here, sex between any two random Americans, whether it's straight or not, is pretty disgusting. Who likes to think about other people having sex unless those two people are attractive? Two overweight, average-looking sweaty bodies rubbing against each other in what is often a futile attempt for them both to reach orgasm and sexual gratification... yeah it's not that sexy. For those two people it's hopefully enjoyable, but most other people don't like thinking about it.

The only sex that I find attractive is the kind I have, pretty much. And sometimes porn.

No it's not. I don't give a damn if he's gay. Just like I don't give a damn if knows or cares that I'm not gay.

Bottom line is MS wants something or will want something so he's playing the victim card today in order to set that up.

Interesting premise. But you go off the rails when you use terms like " threatened" and "fearful".

There is a certain breed of man in America that does not enjoy the company of a man who would have intercourse with another man. Pretty simple really. I don't think it's fair to really disparage their reaction or opinion to something that just makes them squeamish on a very basic level.

Personally, I can't really remember a time that it ever bothered me. I approach life with this idea that I don't ever want to have created any victims-that to victimize somebody-through ridicule for instance over his sexuality- puts me in a pretty shitty category. Also, it's not really a gay guy's responsibility to craft my emotional response to his sexuality, it's up to me how I deal with that, and when in doubt, COMPASSION is usually a good bet.

I wouldn't treat them any differently so I don't see what the issue is. My point is that no amount of culture change will ever make me feel that it isn't disgusting. No matter how many anal bleaching spas pop up in my area

You can not care what someone does but still be disgusted by it. A lot of people like eating onions but the thought of eating an onion makes my stomach churn. I don't condemn people for eating onions though.. that would be silly.
