I would be more concerned about Bama's lackluster performance against Michigan, considering the talent you guys are always hyping, if I were you.

I would be worried about LSU since they couldn't beat Alabama. Wait and see if Kelly can beat Alabama with Nick Saban again.

I would be worried about Mizzou ever making a playoff.

I hope Mizzou hires another good DC so that when Baker becomes a head coach in two years, we’ll know where to go to poach another DC.

$2.5 Million is not worth it. He will find someone else. Drinkwitz and Mizzou will be fine. Why are you pushing this?
It is time to move on and so will Mizzou and Drinkwitz. This isn't going to hurt Mizzou. I am glad he is getting $2.5 million for a DC at LSU and not at Mizzou.

Apparently Mizzou thought it was worth it.

Can't imagine Kelly being in any "trouble" but Ryan Day better find a way to beat Michigan or he is going to be in trouble. There ain't NO way folks in Ohio are not unhappy about losing to Michigan, it'd be akin to Alabama losing to Auburn regularly...

10/7/23 and taking your DC for good measure after your best season in 20 years is Mizzou’s standard.

He hired them two years ago and yet need to replace them once again. This isn't a good look for Kelly. It is who he is as a HC.

His three previous DC hires before House are all P5 head coaches today, but go on.

LOL He is replaceable. He will improve the LSU defense. Drinkwitz will find another replacement. He doesn't want to pay over 2 million dollars for a DC. Kelly really wanted him so bad that is fine. No big deal. Drinkwitz will find a good replacement.

Shall I remind you how convinced you were that there wasn’t even a possibility that this could happen just a month or two ago?

But wouldn't match Denbrock's salary? Or there was no chance at keeping him? The defense was bad but Denbrock and Daniels were the reason LSU won 10 games.

If Denbrock just wanted a raise, he might have gone to A&M. It certainly looks like he and his family wanted to move back to the Midwest, but who knows. But he coached at ND twice, has family nearby, and has worked with multiple people on that staff before. He has a lot of connections to the school and the area. I don’t think matching salary alone would have kept him.

I liked Denbrock more than most LSU fans did last year when he wasn’t as popular and the offense was more inconsistent. That said, he’s a career good to very good OC. But he’s never been dominant anywhere outside of this one season with a Heisman QB and 2 NFL WRs. Now, I know he had something to do with Daniels’ development, just like he did Ridder’s at Cincinnati. But Joe Sloan has gotten a lot more of the credit for that, even from Daniels himself.

If we are going to pay $2.1 mil plus for an OC, I would rather see it go to someone younger who’s on the way up and runs a more innovative offense. Denbrock’s is solid, but it’s not groundbreaking. That’s said, I don’t think we will have to pay $2 mil for Denbrock’s replacement unless an obvious home run like Grubb expresses interest.

If Sloan really was the key to Daniels’ development and he’s also the key to Underwood’s commitment and ultimate signing, keeping him on this staff is a bigger priority to me. He’s younger and is going to be getting offers to move up to an OC job, at least at the G5 level. We’ll see whether he gets the OC gig or not, but there’s something to be said for keeping continuity on one side of the ball with sweeping changes coming on the other. He certainly didn’t fall on his face in the Bowl Game, so we’ll see.

There may be some legitimacy to all of this, but if OSU cans Day, they better have someone ready to take over who wins national titles.

Day is literally a missed 50 yarder from having one against a UGA team who was really fing good last year.

Day hasn't beaten all the best teams since 2019, but he has been damn good and hasn't lost any "WTF" games.

His Ls

Clemson in the playoffs
Bama in the NCG
Oregon and Michigan in 2021
Michigan and UGA 2022 (playoffs)
Michigan and Mizzou in the Cotton Bowl

It is truly absurd to me that OSU is being like this. Day has outperformed what Meyer did in every year except for 2014.

Edit: OSU hasn't even made any staff changes
