The fallout from 2006 haunted Hootie, the coaching staff, the players, Broyles, the administration, the Foundation and even some boosters throughout 2007. Add in Hootie's ineptitude and I don't see how that team could win the SEC that season.

I'm not passing total blame onto him by any means. But a lion's share of it was perpetuated by him. Mustain acted like a baby but to have the whole email fiasco was soap opera level shite.

I can agree there are several hog fans that treat Gus like a pariah. I don't understand that mentality when he helped y'all get to Atlanta .

I hate Nutt.
I hate Brando as a way of vicariously hating Nutt.
I skip right over Petrino (who deserves a lot of hatred) and still hate Nutt more.

A big part of the Gus hate that you won't ever understand comes from the same place as the Mustain hate that I won't ever understand.
Its rooted in local high school football loytalties and butthurts.
There are Arky message boarders who personally dislike Mustain or Gus because he donkey punched their team when they were in 10th grade or whatever.

Another strange angle is that Houston Nutt III played QB for Fayetteville High School while Mustain played QB for Springdale High School. The two towns share a border and a small town high school football rivalry like Friday Night Lights. There's a surprising amount of small-town petty redneck bullshite woven into all of this.

i don't think that's all it by any means. i don't like gus, wouldn't say i hated him by any means but he reps a part of hog history that sucked total arse and he'll always be a part of that shite storm in my mind. plus, hdn is a pos that used gus to get mitch. gus used mitch and players to get the oc job. it took 2 to tango in other words.

you don't recall all the drama? emails, banners flying, whole fanbase divided, etc etc. the petrino fiasco was nothing to me in comparison.

Its not ALL it, but its a lot of it. There have been haters of Gus and Mustain from the start here.
And of course, Dianna's notorious "haters from the North of us" referring to the "Springdale people" she thought were out to get her family.
She viewed it as very much a "Fayetteville versus Springdale" thing in the beginning, which betrayed the "Purple Dogs vs Red Dogs" elements in the whole thing. Little did she know it was basically 90% of Arkansas versus her husband, her brother in law and their lesbian accomplice.

There is no reasoning with some folks Parkas.They made it to Atlanta Gus was the common denominator that year.

I remember parents trying to get involved wiht playing time and fans accessing emails through freedom of info acts...i dont recall or know of Gus' role in that.

I don't view Gus as perpetrating any of the bad shite at all.
