Honestly, I think Auburn's defense played great and were ready to stop the run. But, I think the loss of Alfred Blue is way bigger than people are making it out to be. Hilliard is still a stud, but there is a reason why Blue was leading rusher for us early on. Blue was the most complete back on our team and made us less predictable. When Hilliard goes in, everyone knows its a power run. Blue was our guy that could run between the tackles for 7 yards, then line up in shotgun and be motioned out to WR... I think we are one of the most predictable offenses in the nation without Blue.

quote:Exactly what I thought when the final minutes ticked off the clock.
LSU coaches knew that AU couldn't sustain drives on their LSU defense so they played conservative with a ground game. Mett didn't show he could make the plays and an interception might give the ball close to a winning field goal. Looked like the LSU had no concern for the AU offense winning the game so they just sat on a lead.
IMO, if AU had a QB/OC that threaten LSU's defense, Miles would have planned accordingly. As it is, Miles chose to take his win, head back home and live to fight another day.

184 or whatever the total was was skewed a bit by the sacks that were taken but it was a bit disappointing. A twenty yard run by Shep was erased by a foolish ticky-tack holding call. Just one of those nights. The crowd at JHS was electric and their defense was really fired up but it had more to do with lack of execution by LSU. Don't discount the fact that LSU is now without their best Olinemen(for the season) and their starting tailback (for the immediate future. Hopefully he's back by November)
