In the 1st quarter LSU dominated the game. They racked up 120 yards compared with Auburn's -5 yards. When it became 9-0 I thought LSU was going to run away with it. Then Mettenberger fumbled deep in Auburn territory. That changed the nature of the game in my opinion and it was a struggle for LSU's offense from thereon out.

We had the same thing last year with Mississippi State - the SEC is full of great players. Saturday, Auburn's showed up to play, as did the crowd. While it's tough to say we dominated them - we controlled the pace, for the most part, and the 2 fumbles resulted in a 12 point shift (we got 2 instead of 7, then they got their only 7 off of a turnover). That game looks much better for us if it was 20-3, which is what the play, minus our fumbles, equates to.

I don't like posts like this. Yes, you can say what you said. I can say we gave you 3 on the muffed point by Bray. I can say we lost 7 on the OMac overthrow that would've been a TD. Or Coates dropping the long pass on the opening drive may have resulted in a FG for us. Crap happens during every game that affects the final score. No need to search for reasons to have a fictional score. Yes, you could've won by 20 or we could've won by 8. But no reason to talk about it, because you guys won by 2.

Our O was not hitting on all cylinders, no where near. That was evident. Bad O Line play, uncoordinated playcalling, turnovers, and dropped passes will do that.

Funny how you see no LSU fans agreeing with you

In summation it was a combination of: Auburn playing inspired D A very hostile crowd Exposed weaknesses of LSU's line against heavy run blitz, esp at the tackle positions Unwillingness to open it up with Mett

100% accurate. and the two fumble's at critical times led miles to play just for the victory. lsu's special teams and offense made a ton of mistakes in that game. stupid mistakes. i haven't seen miles chew players asses out on the sideline in a long time. at one time he walked down to where the OL was sitting and chewed the whole damn lot of 'em out. LSU needed a game like that; our OOC schedule was too easy with TCU backing out and washington being shite (unexpectedly). some of our younger players didn't understand what arse kicking SEC football on the road is all about. hopefully, they do now.

We rushed for over 180 yards

I think we are at a point in time right now that if we don't rush for 200+, more to the 250 a game it seems we had a bad day rushing the ball. If Mett does not turn that ball over we are up 14-0 and the outcome of this game is way more than the 12-10 final.

Is what it is, Mett's first game on the road in the SEC in a very, very hostel environment.

Mett played fine minus the fumbles. It was the OL not being able to pass protect that resulted in the staffs unwillingness to let Mett throw the ball.

that about sums it up. CLM plays for the victory.

Mistake cost us in this game. Sloppy play. Take away one of those fumbles, make our WRs catch a few of those dropped balls, and take back some of those penalties...the score is much different. But that isn't how the game works, and we're responsible for all of these mistakes. The execution HAS to get better if we're going to win on November 3.

Again, how is it Metts fault when he has no time to pass and wide outs who drop balls that hit them in their hands?

LSU defending the new transfer to the end while throwing the ones that wanted to go to LSU in the first place under the bus.

Classic.

Chizik gambled that Mett couldn't beat them with his arm and just stacked the box. He almost won. AU does that against Bama or UGA, or Arky or TAMU or OM and they'll get lit up.

We ran it 38 times vs 33 passes. Id say that is very uncharacteristic of this offense. Ran for 182 yds at over 4 yds a carry. IMO they should have given it to ware 20-25 times that night. Other than that i dont see a lack of a run game vs Auburn.

I think they just have a shite OC who wasn't doing their QB any favors. Auburn was stacking the box and run blitzing all night. Yet LSU wasn't slanting them to death, or calling draw plays, or screens. It struck me as more of a poor gameplan and an unwillingness to adjust than a lack of a running game on LSU's part.
